Melissa has a lot of natural talent as a dancer. She has beautiful lines and extensions, and can be fluid and graceful, or fast and sassy. As much as I like her and love watching her, there’s one thing missing for me, and that’s her emotional expression. I don’t feel she’s really into each dance, really feeling it, she’s just going through the motions. I think Carrie-Ann has alluded to this. It’s the same fixed smile on her face, with more of a connection to the audience than to her partner. Gilles (especially) and Shawn seem to have more connection to their respective partners. I believe Melissa could have a good chance of winning if she poured more of herself (her soul) into her dances.
I completely agree about Melissa’s hesitancy in her performances…I noticed it last week in her Latin dance as well, which i was FLABBERGASTED with the high scores she received. It’s probably her injury, but all of her movements lacked impact, especially the upper body ones that you had to contract and release.
One question..why did Bruno continue to push that Maurice had NEEVEFR looked as good, a full week afterward? I agreed with him last week, but it felt as if this was personal attack on CHeryl this week.
I am a Derek/Kim fan so who is left really doesn’t matter to me but I do completely understand your comments. I think Gilles exhibits a lot of passion which provides excitement for the audience. Shawn is technically spot on with her timing and precision but sometimes a little lacking in facial/emotional feel but she is very good also. Melissa dances well enough but I just don’t see a strong emotionality conveyed to the audience through her dancing and this seems to be felt by the judges as well. It must be difficult to score each dance so quickly with so little time to even think about what you have just seen but I think all you judges do well. I hope the finale is great for everyone of the dancers and fans.
P.S. Requesting Derek have a really good and sexy partner next season–just not the same with out him. I know I am prejudiced but have been completely won over by his dancing on the tour. A real pleasant stand out for me. Love the D-Man:-)
Melissa is the one contestant who does the most complicated dances, and why is that, because if she doesn’t you bag on her. But all Gilles has to do is shake his assets, and barely dance, were you watching the same vienesse walts I was on Monday, and the perfect scores come out. No way did he deserve that 60, his Salsa was just like his Samba. It was very unprofessional to show favoritism like what you did on Monday. People at my house were throwing things at the tv. Oh and since you’re ‘helping’ the contestants, tell Gilles to keep it “G” rated. And tell Melissa and Shawn that we’re rooting for them, since it doesn’t seem like the judges are.
And also Melissa’s Quick Step was classy, she’s 26 for goodness sake and you want her to go out there and dance like Shawn. I loved Shawn’s Quick Step it was suitable for her age. But Melissa’s was classy just like the pros’ who deminstarted it the week before. Take the rose colored glasses off and score the girls fairly.
I feel your comments to Melissa were uncalled for. Her Quick step was beautiful and deserved a 30. You dont think Melissa wants to be there, she is dancing with fractured ribs. Not many people would do that if they didn’t want to be there. You have always been hard on her, and your expectations are way too high. She is not a professional, so stop judging her like one. Also it is so obvious how you fawn all over Gilles that you want him to win. I dont think judges should be biased. They should treat all contestants fairly, and you certainly dont. All Gilles has to do is stand there and open his shirt and you would give him a thirty. Have some self respect, I am embarrassed for you. All we are asking is you start treating them all fairly and stop finding faults that aren’t there. Melissa and Shawn are working just as hard as Gilles, and deserve just as much credit. Stop saying the dancing comes easy to her. What a slap in the face to Melissa. Your expectations are too high
I also feel your comments re Melissa are so obviously biased. You didn’t criticize Gilles or Shawn in such a manner….no surprise there. Not very objective for a judge to do so in a blog….I’ve watched since season 1 and am very disappointed this season in your attitude towards Melissa; inconsistent with how you review the others…..
You might as well have given Gilles the trophy last night, since the three judges have already picked their winner. I dont know why we even are having a finale, since we all know it wont be judged fairly. I feel sorry for Melissa and Shawn, they have no chance when the judges are this bias, and are drooling over Gilles. How can they compete against that. Your comments to Melissa were unjust and mean.
Okay, Giles is a good dancer. C’mon Carrie Ann, out here in New Mexico, where Salsa is king – Giles wouldn’t cut it. Cheryl is a savvy coach…Giles’ arm movements too frenetic…solution…limit arm movements (lots of “sustained” arm placements) less opportunity for the “frenzy” that is Giles to come out. There was a time when the judges “pushed” performers to improve. For the most part, that has been true. Giles’ performances are two dimensional – booty shake/smolder. The only advice to Giles lately has been “bring sexy back”. Justin Timberlake already did that. Push Cheryl to make Giles deal with his “frantic” outbursts and crazy arms. The whole reason Emmit, Apolo and Helio were so much fun to watch was because the expectations for them were clear. They expected to be challenged and rose to that challenge. This is about the judges’ lack of confidence in Giles’ ability to move beyond his comfort level. Give him a dance that will CLEARLY place him outside his comfort level
It is always clear who the judges want. I apologize Carrie but Len is the ONLY honest judge and even he is bias at times. I saw on camera the way you and Bruno looked at each other when Ty was introduced to dance. I have watched a lot of professional Ballroom dancing and NONE of it has ever been as vulgar as Cheryl and her “partners” dance. And the show started out as ballroom dancing but they have let hip- hop and everything else in it. I don’t even watch the results show anymore. The music and performances are getting worse. And if the judging keeps going the way it is… I’m sure there are many more shows on that is more interesting to watch. And the way Len and Bruno treated Ty was rude and uncalled for. No he wasn’t the best but he did not deserve that treatment.

Looks like the rabbid fans of Melissa are out of their cage.Get over it, Melissa isn’t the best dancer.Anyone in clear state of mind would know that Gilles is the best dancer and do deserve to win the trophy.I’m just hoping that the semi wasn’t a set up and later on the show decided to build Melissa up again.I know people were complaining the very obvious fix for Melissa to win after getting a bye and getting a perfect score for a dance that didn’t worth of that regards.I hope the judges wasn’t playing on us or the producers.I would lose my respect for the show forever.Gilles did desrve his perfect scores obviously and i would feel so bad for him and Cheryl if later on the judges go back again and give in to the pressures of Melissa’s fans to make her a champion.I hoppe that’s not the case…You know Carrie Ann deep inside your heart that Melissa don’t deserve this.Please, we all know that there are some sympathy votes going on for her.Don’t feel pressured at all.
Even Melissa and Tony have said it themselves, that they are ok to lose, as long as it will be against Gilles.They both know that Gilles and Cheryl are better than they are.I just hope that their fans are as open minded as they are.Look,Melissa is not even putting her mind and soul into this that much.She is more interested on what’s gonna happen in the next segment of Bachelorrete.She said it herself that if she comes in second,isn’t really such a big deal for her.She don’t want the trohphy as much as Gilles do.It would be totally unfair for others who’s been putting everything they got into this.I do hope the producers are smart enough,that they will benefit more if they let the true winner this season win.Melissa is not really caring that much about the show itself.Gilles is the only one with true Star quality.Melissa only good for 15 minutes fame.A Gilles win and he will make it big,his success will be attributed to the show.I really hope they are smart about this.
If you ask a lot of the critics and celebrities and pros.90% of them would say that Gilles is the only deserving winner this season.Melissa do have very passionate fans i understand,probably the whole texas and some desperate bachelors viewers who are so desperate for her to win this, just to get back to the person who dumped her on national tv.But this is not the place to do it.If they want her to get even,go and be the next Bachellorette.DWTS is about dancing and if your heart is not really into it, then by all means, i don’t think she desrve to win this.Especially when there is someone else much better than she is.I hate to see someone win this, just for the sake of her fan base & revenge and not even because of her talent and her work ethics.Her fans are so passionate about this that they become so imperceptive and so vile to other fans and competitors.She probably get tons of fans supporting her right now,but she is the most hated as well.Thanks to her fans.
And please stop the power voting for Melissa.So many of her fans creating so many accounts to make it look like she got the most fans.I can’t believe how a one person can vote as much as 1000 votes or more.She definitely got the most obsessive fans out there.Again Carrie Ann, Please judge accordingly for the Finals.It would be dissapointing if you go back favoring Melissa again.Another thing, Tony already saying about the difficult lifts they are about to do for the finals.That will be totally questionable, given that Melissa is suppose to be having a rib injury.Causing her to skip one week of performing.I’m gonna say it again,Melissa do not deserve to win,she is not the best dancer, she had too much experience dancing, her heart wasn’t really into this,she isn’t working hard as the others,& she missed a week of performances & not even entertaining to watch, not even improving.Everything about her is not what DWTS is about.Shawn,bless her but she’s not quite as good and remarkable.
