Tonight is the 100th episode of Grey’s Anatomy, which…holy emo soundtrack, Batman, that’s a lot of overwrought metaphors and "he’s crashing!!!" and hooking up and….Well, welcome to the century club, Shonda Rhimes et al!
In keeping with the celebratory atmosphere, I’ll refrain from airing grievances against the show — but trust me: I have many, many grievances — and instead just focus on my favorite things. Here, I’ll do a voice over to get us all in the mood:
As doctors, we’re taught to cut away the bad — slice out that tumor; remove that damaged tissue. Sometimes, it seems like all we can see is what’s wrong with her, or what’s destroying him. At the end of the day, it’s a relief to finally, finally start looking for something good…
Bailey She’s the only character I’ve never hated. Bailey, don’t fail me now!
Meredith and Cristina Easily my favorite relationship on the show, and one of my favorite buddy relationships on TV in general (second place: Grace and Rhetta on Saving Grace). I like that their friendship isn’t just a series of gushy moments — it’s casual and understood and present in all their interactions without constantly being a big deal.
It’s all right to cry* I’m getting choked up just thinking about "Into You Like a Train." Or Kyle Chandler assploding. Or Cristina ripping off her wedding dress and that fugs necklace. Or Derek having to admit that Meredith is "a good swimmer" after she almost drowns/kills herself. Or that girl wanting to "die Amish." Or even that doofy face-transplant guy’s orchid buddies loving him. This show is scientifically engineered to make me weep. Cathartic!
Hey, good lookin’ Any time two people face each other on this show, I just want them to kiss. Any two people! Even couples I don’t really want to see together, somehow Grey’s makes it seem like a really good idea in the moment — the fumbling, the moody music, the longing gazes, the schmaltzy lighting, all of it = smooch factory.
Group huuuuuug! I like when the whole staff is in on the same problem or issue, instead of everyone having his or her own crisis o’ the day. Grey’s has spent a lot of time fleshing out a sprawling regular cast, and one of the show’s enduring themes is that there are lots of ways to be a good doctor — the show’s at its best when the different doctoring styles play off each other.

Kevin McKidd! The addition of Dr. Hunt has been a nice surprise, and the chemistry between him and Christina is electric! Such a tortured pair. It’s heartbreaking.

Mc Dreamy of course! Also love Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo’s chemistry, it’s been there since the first scene and in my opinion there can never be enough MerDer.
I don’t anymore. What used to make me watch the first 3 seasons was the quriky and dark wit. Then it just got melodramatic and annoying.
The core friendships are what keep me turning in, especially Meredith and Cristina and, the surprisingly endearing friendship between Sloan and Callie. I love the little moments. Who couldn’t have been touched when Meredith said to Lexie, “You’re my sister”. To think how this relationship has evolved that they are now truly sisters.
For a woman who didn’t have a family, Meredith has created one in her friendships and relationships. Richard, the father figure; Bailey, cool older sister; sisters Cristina and Lexie; and cousins Izzie, Alex and George.
Alex Karev. Because even when he’s a complete jerk or screwing up, he’s always believable. I like to root for him to realize that he s a good person. Honestly, he’s the only character I tune in for, even though he’s constantly trapped in other people’s storylines instead of having his own.

The first couple we see on screen is Meredith and Derek and for five seasons-now close to sex, I have been watching and following their story. It still is the “go to” relationship for both Shonda Rhimes and TPTB at ABC, using them to prop the show with the promo’s and the majority of vague spoilers. They have chemistry, and are the core couple of this long running show.They still have it and I’m there to watch the story continue.
I agree with Sam. Karev is the best part of GA.

I love how messed up Meredith is.
I’m still tuning in, after watching from the very first episode, because there is something great and touching about each & every character. Derek is a fundamentally great guy; Meredith has conquered so much after her mother’s emotional abusiveness and nonexistent father; Christina really does have a heart; Bailey rules and is gifted with common sense, sometimes a rarity; Sloan keeps things from getting too bogged down in drama & still wants to be Derek’s friend in spite of their past; the Chief runs the hospital with conviction & compassion; even Alex is growing into a better person & a more human doctor; and Owen is the male side of dark & twisty, someone else I’m rooting for while he conquers his demons. While George & Izzie were never my favorites, his sensitivity & her mothering have contributed to the overall group’s maturing. Even the new 1st years are relevant to the whole mix. So I hang on & continue to watch, patiently having faith that the writers won’t break my heart.
Seriously… I used to love Greys so much, now i barely see it. That breaks my heart, I’d rather watch my dvd from season 1 to 3. that is the good stuff
I’m a sucker for a good cry. The music they choose for each episode is great. And I love Christina. I feel like I can kind of identify with her a little.

I hate them for making me cry every bloody week. I’m down with you on Bailey, better not eff it up. My favorite couple is McSteamy and Little Grey. Don’t know why, it just works for me.

First off I wanna say I’m one of the only straight guys I know who watches this show (without being forced by his spouse) lol. I never got why…
I first joined because I loved medical dramas. I was actually in the hospital during its premiere, recovering from surgery. Izzie, Meredith, Addison, Callie, and so on…all gorgeous women! So why not eh !
Sure it gets a bit “too soapy” for my taste, but I like the drama. This season had been my least favourite with the Izzie/Denny thing. I think I could relate alot with George in the earlier seasons.
So ya, I’ve been hooked ever since the beginning. I say with no shame, Grey’s is one of my favs.

Cristina and Owen! Their relationship is what has kept my interest all season. I love Sandra and Kevin. She is my favoriye actress on tv, never fails to make me laugh or cry everytime!
I think the amazing cast, and the different relationships between the characters is what makes people love this series.
Christina and Owen are my favs this season and Little Grey and Mark (totally didn’t think I’d like that story line but I love it!). This show has been a little “out there” this season but I love me some Grey’s every Thursday!

Owen and Cristina, I love their relationship so much! They are the only reason why I am still watching this show.
