'American Idol' Power List: Vote for your favorite from season 8's Top 4!

Categories: American Idol 2009

Americanidol_l4. Danny Gokey: (Last week: No. 4) He’s the only season 8 finalist never to land in the bottom three, and he’s coming off hands-down his best performance of the season, a powerful take on "Come Rain or Come Shine." So what’s he doing at the bottom of the list? Well, for starters, his voting bloc may be more complacent than those of his recently-in-jeopardy rivals. And secondly, Rock & Roll Week seems a less natural fit for him than it does for Adam, Allison, and even Kris. With Simon slipping off his bandwagon on Disco Night and Movie Night, he’ll need to avoid the harp, and deliver another powerhouse performance, to make good on Paula’s repeated "See you in the finals!" prediction. Any way you slice it, though, this week’s gonna be a wild race!

3. Kris Allen: (Last week: No. 1) Followed up back-to-back stellar performances of "Falling Slowly" and a brilliantly rearranged "She Works Hard for the Money" with the slightly lackadaisical "The Way You Look Tonight," and found himself making his bottom-three debut as a result. Scarily, combined with a bunky "All She Wants to Do Is Dance," it marked his second so-so performance in four weeks. Absolutely must make a bold statement on Tuesday — and avoid the urge to play it safe — to guarantee himself a televised hometown visit.

2. Allison Iraheta: (Last week: No. 5) Got her first critique of the season indicating a chance at making the finale (courtesy of Kara!) for her heartbreakingly sweet "Someone to Watch Over Me." And while she can’t ever seem to win over boneheaded Simon, Rock & Roll Week maximizes her chances of a final-three appearance as much or more so than any other possible theme (outside of, say, Teenage Divas Week). Biggest hindrances to her campaign to bring some estrogen to the final three could be her sometimes-garbled enunciation, and a tendency toward overdone-on-Idol numbers.

1. Adam Lambert: (Last week: No. 2) While at first glance, the presumed front-runner’s appearance in the bottom two last week would indicate a bumpy road ahead, in actuality, it might be the best thing that ever happened to him. Indeed, that sound you hear is The Glambert Nation practicing its speed-dialing exercises in preparation for Tuesday night’s festivities. A "Mad World" level performance would probably carry him straight to the final two, but anything on par with his second-tier performances (say, "Born to Be Wild") should be more than enough to survive the week. As for those who found "Feeling Good" a bit too showboaty, if you’ve got it, aren’t you supposed to flaunt it?

I agree with the article. Adam being in the bottom three is going to be the best thing to ever happen to him. His fans are going to go crazy voting for him tomorrow. I also want a Adam/Allison finale. Go Adam!!!

  • Vote For Adam

    Adam FTW

  • Idolatry Fan

Can I just say, this is the BEST web series. Slezak, your movie references rawk, the content is fantastic. I send this to all my friends trying to get them to watch. Really really good. And funny.
PS – Put the Go in Gokey!

  • Heather

As long as Kris makes Top 3, I will be happy with an Allison/Adam finale. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
    Put the Go in Gokey!

  • Hannah

Check out what a headliner Allison looks like in that photo.

  • Candy

I’m gonna text so many votes for Adam tomorrow. I think Kris might be the nest to go. The other three voices are too big for him to compete.

  • KradamBomb

I have never been so nervous for a Top 4 show in eight seasons of this darn Idol!!! Go Adam & Kris & Allison!! Team Kradison Group 2 Semi-Finalists FOR THE WIN!

  • Nola

Adam and Allison are gonna kick so much ass tomorrow. I think Danny and Kris should be scared. And Kris singing rock? Weird!

  • Adam

Adam and Alison will so own tomorrow. Can’t wait. oh yeah DAUGHTRY is back!!! And No Doubt, plus Slash.
    Awesome.

Kris may have the least powerful voice of the three of them but he also has been the most creative at re-arranging the songs to suit his style. I think we’ll see him pull of another rabbit out of his bag of tricks!! I’d say Danny would have the most to worry about but I’m wondering if all of those performances he says he’s been “watching” (aka Adam) aren’t suddenly going to help him? Wouldn’t it be ironic if Adam lost to, well, himself?

  • sonya

adam is the best… tv guide interview simon said adam was a great talent, and he could be the international star, where danny may win,but wont get far because he is safe.hope danny does not win.would love to see danny out & kris & adam in the finale.allison not so much just because I never like her song selection and outfits are horrible. adam better raise the bar a whone new level tomorrow,I for one am so ready to dial & dial for adam.
    Glambert 09
adam is a hot sexy man

  • jaime

I LOVE ALLISON…IF SHE MAKES IT TO THE TOP 3 SHE NEEDS TO SING IN SPANISH!!!
    SAVE THE LATINA ROCKER!!
SING IN SPANISH…GET THE LATINO VOTE!

  • Nikki

Adam Fans: DON’T SPLIT YOUR VOTE!!! Vote only for Adam tomorrow! And please vote Danny and Kris off the show. Adam and Allison deserve to be in the final two. They have the biggest voices!

  • Brit

I totally agree with Simon. Adam is the only one (except for Allison)who can sell and be a real superstar. Danny and Kris are too boring and safe. Vote for Adam!!!! Go Adam!!!!!

  • momma bear

I find it interesting how many people are rooting for Adam, Kris and Allison (to the exclusion of Gokey) …however, if people continue to split their votes, then one of them is certain to go home. Time to man/woman up, pick a horse and ride it to the finish line….altho i will be voting only for Adam, would certainly enjoy seeing Kris and Allison in top 3 with him

  • ariel

I wonder if wednesday night we will see new amount of record breaking votes because I am soooo ready to dial my *** for adam.PUT THE GO IN GOKEY.
    glambert all the way

  • Jim

Adam may very well win this competition, and he may have the best voice of the 3, but if there was ever someone destined to be on broadway and not on the top of the pop charts….. it would be Adam Lambert. Kris and Allison are the only 2 that will make a cd worth buying and listening to, not that that has ever mattered to anyone who calls in and votes on idol.

  • bostonbean

I don’t vote but at this point, I think its pretty much okay whoever wins. Because whoever is a talent will break out regardless and in some cases it might be better that they not win to avoid the bland sameness that seems to mark 19 entertainments AI productions. Adam might be the exception, he seems to know himself and have enough command of music to be able to get an album he wants.

  • makayla

so ready tomorrow…bring on the votes…adam will kick butt tomorrow.
I think kris is a good singer, def see him on the radio like a jason mraz, love love love ALL of adams recording, you can def see what he is capable of in the studio.Adam will truly be a star.danny is less then mediocre.only reason he is this far is because of all the viedo and stuff about his wife. grrrrrrr.

  • court

Adam is good but he won’t sell records..he belongs on broadway. Danny and Kris deserve to be the final two!!

  • Ashley

I disagree with those who say Adam wouldn’t sell as a contemporary artist. I don’t mean to compair him to music legends, but Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson- all of these artists are different and theatrical, but they are now legends. So just because Adam is over-the-top doesn’t mean that he won’t be a successful artist. Most music icons are over-the-top. Go Adam!!!

  • Hannah

I agree with Jim and Court. Adam is good but he is meant for selling broadway tickets not top selling albums. If he wins he wins but it will be like the other seasons we have seen where the runners up become more successful with selling albums.

  • summer

have the people who keep saying adam should be on broadway actually listened to him??? JUST because someone has RANGE,HUGE VOCALS,CAN HOLD BIG NOTES,does not mean they have to be on broadway, lol. really…please if you have not listened to his studio version cuts or youtube videos of “come home” or I can’t make you love me,do us all a favor and LISTEN. because the broadway comments are OLD. he is an entertainer.elvis was an entertainer with crazy suits, lights, etc …adam can and will sing whatever he wants.ITS CALLED DIVERSITY for those who are not open minded and don’t know much about music.

  • Adam’s #1!

I could totally see Adam being a superstar outside of American Idol. Yes, he’s theatrical, but so is Michael Jackson and Prince, and look at where they are now. Adam should definitely win this. And please send Kris or Danny home!

  • Stephanie

As a Canadian fan of Adam Lambert, I encourage all Glamberts in the States to vote harder than you’ve ever voted before. Split-voting is not an option at this late stage in the game, just keep the faith and stay positive. This is a dream Adam’s had since the show’s inception, and I know that you guys will make his dream a reality. Adam Lambert FTW!

  • carol522

For all those that complain that Adam is more suited to Broadway, my question is do you even know what it takes to make on a ‘real’ Broadway production? The competition is fierce and while Adam has the talent, that’s not what he chooses to do at this time in his life.
Get over it folks! The man is super-talented and if he wants to be pop/rock star, he should go for it!! I’m looking forward to buying his CD and I certainly can’t say that about the other finalists. (This is coming from a 48 year old AA female). ROCK ON!!

  • mpat

    put the go in gokey!!!!
    go adam! <3

  • ariel

simon himself said that adam will be big internationally. he already has a huge fan base around the world.
kris & danny in the finale would be such a major snooze.
adam not in the finale would be like america not in the olympics,we need him there!!! to make it fun & a competition.
