Susan Boyle's latest vintage performances: Her talent runs deep

Yet another vintage video clip of Susan Boyle singing has surfaced — this time, she’s crooning "The Way We Were" and "I Don’t Know How to Love Him" during a singing competition in Scotland. And it all goes down when she’s at the perky, ripe age of 22. Thankfully, this latest clip doesn’t feature her being mauled by an overzealous reality show host.

In the video, which is below, Boyle is more timid than she was during her infamous Britain’s Got Talent audition, but this 1984 clip is undoubtedly her — a little slimmer, more youthful, and with a lovely sort of ’80s vibe about her, especially with that sparkly-silvery curtain behind her.

But wait, there’s more! Over on PerezHilton.com lives some audio of a "Killing Me Softly" demo Susan recorded, supposedly 10 years ago. In a word: Lovely.

With all this old tape turning up, I can’t help but think about how easy of a time the producer of her rise-to-fame documentary (or, more likely, her True Hollywood Story) is going to have. Right? With all these auditions and demos existing out there, it’s almost like she was destined to become famous — and then have a moive made about her. Can’t wait for it. In these overly quick media times, I think we should expect such a project in, oh, about the next month.

PopWatchers, what’re your current feelings about SuBo? Do you love her renditions of "The Way We Were" and "Killing Me Softly"? Have you had enough — or are you loving every minute of Susan Boyle’s complete domination of 2009?

I think she is absolutely lovely and her singing is a joy to listen to. She just needs some polishing. I worry that she will be taken advantage of and only hope that someone who is trustworthy will take care of her to make her a successful professional singer, which is what she wants. I cannot get enough of her and wish her all the best. Have you noticed how she never has a bad word for anyone and when she mentioned that she was happy, she also mentioned that she was glad to be giving others happiness. Don’t let them spoil you Susan. On another note I have been listening to Fred O’neil, her voice coach. His singing is also absolutely delightful to listen to. I would love to hear them sing together.

It’s amazing to see so many people who worry about Susan being taken advantage of by others. I think Susan knows who are her “true” friends and can sort out the BS in others. She has enormous confidence and integrity, imo. So don’t worry – millions will help protect her.

Until the show is over and she has an album out, this is a great way to hear more of her songs. I’ll be happy to pay for an album when it comes out, but in the meantime, I’m enjoying all the free samples!

I’m not interested in her, but she definitely should have a “moive” made about her. No doubt.

I just listened to Killing Me Softly and it is simply phenomenal. I love this woman!

“Infamous” means ‘having an extremely bad reputation’ or ‘disreputable’ or ‘notorious’. I’m not sure that’s the word for the video of Susan Boyle.

Oh Susan – you are a jewel and you just keep shining. I hope you stay as sweet and true as you are now. I thik you will – the world will not and can not touch the beauty God has bestowed upon you. I only wish you could really know how happy you make so many people, and how loved you are!

I love seeing her fascinating journey from young lady to someone whose voice has developped magnificently over the wee years.
Eat your heart out Sarah Brightman and Bonnie Langford and Elaine Paige.
Susan Boyle is the Maria Callas and the Cinderella of the Musical.
The rest are just the sisters who stand in the background nest to her.
It’s no coincidence, Susan, that you have ammassed a Worldwide and adoring fan club in just under twenty four hours. You should be put in the Guinness Book of Records as the person who has achieved fame in the quickest time and with a degree of effortlessness which all other musical stars aimed for but never achieved .
Susan, don’t let any professional musical star tell you that there are better people out there than you.
That is absolute rubbish and they only say that because the’re pea green with envy, and because they have not nor ever will they achieve anything remotely to what you have done.
Susan, you will go from strength to strength

This lady is THE CUTEST. I loved this 80’s-tastic video and can’t wait for more. If she (gasp!) ends up losing Britain’s Got Talent, someone is gonna give her a record contract. Actually, someone get on that, STAT! It’s kind of refreshing to see someone’s big break be at an older age. The struggle, all that stuff…
