I have a new obsession. MTV’s Taking the Stage has invaded my brain, and I have become dangerously fixated on the lives of these talented teens.
For the unitiated, TTS gives the Laguna Beach treatment to a performing arts high school in Cincinnati, a school bursting with gifted kids — they dance, they sing, they act, the gaze longingly at one another. But they’re still teenagers, and oh boy is there ever teenage drama. Last night’s episode was hands down the best of the season, covering break-ups, possible hook-ups, a superb shouting match, the gentle comfort of an awesome mom, a kid getting kicked out of school, and a completely rad concert in which our stars sang inventive covers of top-40 songs.
I think I’m going to have Mia’s cover of "Heartless" stuck in my head all weekend.
Who’s with me, PopWatchers? Are you as fascinated by this show as I am, or would you rather just rewatch Fame?
I ususally don’t post….but I’m with you, Margaret! I adore this show. So sad to see it end next week. But what an AWESOME time I’ve had watching these wonderfully talented teens. Here’s hoping for round #2!!!!
Guilty! LOVE this show and I simply adore Mia. It feels like season 1 of Laguna all over again where the kids were (almost) completely unaware of the cameras. I’ve stopped watching The Hills (in preparation for Lauren’s departure) but also for the reason it’s now so over-scripted, it’s just become a terribly acted teen drama. I hope they bring this show back for a second season, maybe focusing on new kids, so I don’t have to watch my innocent and talented “friends” turn into reality show bimbos and himbos.

I absolutley love this show! As someone who used to be involved in theatre and work at a musical theatre camp over the summer, I think this show is great for portraying the lives of fine arts kids. I just REALLY REALLY REALLY want Mia to forget about Tyler and date Aaron!!!!

LOVE this show. Mia’s my favorite. I think she’s the most talented of the bunch. She’s said on her twitter that there will be a break after the next episode, but it will be back. She’s already filmed episodes. Not sure what it will cover, but there ya go.

Yes!! I love this show. Mia is definitely my favorite and I just know she is going to go far! I’m dying to know whats going to happen between Mia and Aaron! I have read that this show is getting really good ratings and I hope they do a second season! Fingers crossed! :]
