Lots o’news in the watch-on-your-computer front today: First, as we hoped, ABC/Disney has signed a deal with Hulu to put their content on the popular site. Hurray! Full-length episodes of Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, Ugly Betty, Scrubs, Greek, Hope and Faith, Less Than Perfect, Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, General Hospital, The View, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager are all Hulu-bound as part of the deal.
Second, Sony announced that it’s adding more original content to its own Web video site Crackle. "Dusty Peacock," a comedy series created by Kevin James, is set to debut this summer, and "The Bannen Way," a drama about a reformed con man, is set for later this year.
I’m basically a Web-only viewer at this point, so more content online makes me a happy panda. But as TV moves more and more online, I’m wondering when we’re going to get our first bonafide Web-only celebrity or perfect show or amazing movie — one whose success doesn’t mean moving from the Web to TV or the big screen. Major, high-profile journalism is no longer synonymous with print media; at some point, major, high-profile entertainment won’t be synonymous TV or film. How far away is that day?
Just for fun, here’s my favorite Web-only series maybe ever, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. I’ve watched it, oh, 10 times, and it doesn’t get old:

Right there with you have PC connected to LCD TV use wireless mouse as remote!
Though how long can all this stuff remain free as more ppl realize they can ditch cable TV and enjoy 60% of their favs online for free?
Time Warners caps make business sense!
Well, I, for one, am happy that ABC is joining hulu.com. I missed an ep of Private Practice and their player doesn’t work on my comp. Thanks for recognizing that people not only want to watch shows when they want, but also how they want.
What about “JONAS?” Go ahead, judge me if you want. But is it too much to ask to be able to view that Disney show along side the others?
Whoo! for ABC on Hulu.com, but an even bigger WHOO! for your posting Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog! I love it! The DVD Commentary! is also amazing!
eh, i still prefer my first love, the television set. for one thing, it’s usually BIGGER. i’m currently using my laptop for my entertainment needs, but i can’t wait until i leave this tv-less dorm room next week, go home, and get to watch my shows on the big screen again. =)
I wanted to rewatch a ‘Lost’ episode and the ABC player wasn’t working..I’m glad HULU is gonna start airing episodes!
It’s about time. The ABC player is a nightmare. Now CBS just needs to come along and we’re good.
Maybe they’ll put up the remaining eps of Pushing Daisies. Also, at least Hulu works, unlike abc’s video player.
Watch Hulu on your TV. PCTVCables.com
geez, i don’t what’s up with some other people’s computers, but the abc.com player is my favorite of all the networks. it’s HD clear, runs smoothly, almost never skips, and still does all this when i put it in full screen mode. on MY computer anyway…
I’ll be glad to be able to watch ABC shows online again, since the ABC video player won’t work on my computer.
I’ll also add my vote for Dr. Horrible, and the musical commentary only makes it better.
I’m super psyched that Phineas and Ferb will be on Hulu! (don’t judge me for that-I’d say it was my guilty pleasure, but why should I feel guilty for liking something awesome?) And also ABC shows. I’ve never had a lot of luck with ABC’s player either. Now if only CBS/CW would put their shows up, I’d be good to go.
You forgot “Better Off Ted”.
Uh, doesn’t hulu just put a link up that sends you back to abc, so you still have to download their plug in and use their player?
