Joan and Melissa: Still classy

"You’ve now got a Nazi and a follower."
"They’re…two little #$%^ pit vipers! Whore pit vipers!"
Joan and Melissa Rivers once again proved why cameras have to follow them wherever they go: because they will say anything. After last night’s Celebrity Apprentice elimination booting Melissa (which you can read about in Jean Bentley’s TV watch on the show), the red carpet menace and her mother went off on poker player Annie Duke and Playboy centerfold Brande Roderick, spewing epithets, invective, and some serious nastiness toward the crew. Judge for yourself: Justified or no?

Joan Rivers has made this show–she says what we are all thinking at home–Brande is a dumb blonde and Annie is a manipulator. I will miss her on the last few shows of the season.

Joan and Melissa are complete trash. I’m glad that their true colors finally emerged from beneath all of that super scary plastic surgery. Joan is a nasty nasty empty shell of a human being and her daughter is a classless, clueless, co-dependent loser. Good riddance.

  • nancy

Joan don’t go!!! She made the show great. Joan and Melissa should be mad Annie is a complete skank. The only one left that is tolerable is Jesse James.

  • Derek

Wahoo! GO JOAN!!! I love it how she sees right through people, and tells them to their face. What a great lady. I have even begun to fall in love with Melissa.
Hoping Joan will return to knock out those two “whore pit vipers!”

  • Carli

Terrible human beings (Joan/Melissa), but awesome TV. Hopefully Joan doesn’t leave. We should see a Joan/Annie F2 showdown!

After reading some of the mean and spiteful comments about Joan and Melissa Rivers on various sites I now understand why they are so deeply protective of each other. Sometimes Joan says weird and nasty things that I don’t agree with, but she’s always pulled her weight and keeps the show lively and fun to watch. I wish she’d come back. Melissa couldn’t handle the devious and backstabbing Annie, and lost whatever dignity she had with her temper tantrum at the end. I wonder if there was another reason why she was so angry at the crew. And yes, she was fired for the wrong reason.

  • fromto

I think Melissa had grounds to be angry at Annie and Brande, they were just behaving like high school mean girls! They were the only reason to watch that show and even if Joan comes back, I really don’t want to see Annie & Brande.

I never write to tv shows but I now absolutely hate Celebrity Apprentice. Donald Trump is an obnoxious blowhard who is only impressed by how much $$$$ the “celebs” can bring in not their work ethics. Most nice people have a problem hounding people for money but the likes of Donald and Annie Dukes have no problem intimidating their acquaintances. It’s disgusting. As for Melissa, how could anyone stand to be treated the way she was by those two and stay sane. But with Donald Trump admiring those two, how could you stand a chance of winning. Yuuch!!! Joan Rivers should have won the show and I respect her for leaving in support of how Melissa was treated.

I have worked with those who have mental issues. I was very alarmed at Melissa Rivers running around and acting unstable last night. I believe she needs professional help.

No matter what took place in the boardroom…..Joan and Melissa showed their “true colors”…and that is that they are worst “TRASH” than anyone they have talked about. No one in the history ofthe show has acted as Nasty and ignorant as those two. It makes for “trash TV” and they acted like the idiots they truely are.
Joan is the female Don Rickles and trashes anyone she wants…….well I for one hope she “Stays Away” and lets let the show finish with some dignity !!
Good riddens to the two scumbags!!

I think it’s interesting the Melissa called the other 2 women “whore pit vipers” I always saw them as the slutty alligator type.

    “Justified or no?”
I just can’t think of very many situations that would justify the kind of things Joan and Melissa Rivers lobbed (and have been lobbing) toward Annie and Brande in this episode.
Even when you consider the fact that this is a “game”/trashy reality show, these two STILL managed to embarrass themselves.
There have been dozens of people “Fired” on Trump’s boardroom, but no one came close to handling it as poorly as Melissa. She should be ashamed.
As for the people saying “Go, Joan, go!” Are you listening to the vile things she’s spewing? I’d say she’s lucky that she’s 76 years old and on a TV show where there are cameras about. All I know is that if she brought that kind of noise toward someone like my mom, she’d be going in for her 76th facelift.

  • Ceballos

Also, what’s the deal with everyone saying “Annie Dukes is a manipulator” and “Brande ‘Foregooed’ Roderick is a dumb blonde” like it’s an original thought.
He-llo! Annie is a poker player. In her profession, she deceives people and leads them to think something that it’s not true. The rest of the contestants KNOW this. Why WOULDN’T she use the same skill set that has brought her success in one field to the “Apprentice” game? (Where it’s already brought her massive success.) The most annoying thing about this show the past few weeks has been hearing Joan repeat “Annie is two-faced” like she made some big discovery and is making some kind of bold statement.
Sorry, but I’m not mad at Annie for kicking a$$ the way Joan and Melissa are.

Am I missing something? Has society fallen so far that we turn our cheek at such vile, disgusting, and unforgivable comments? The comments are non-factual, and though lobbed at one individual, are incredibly offensive to so many. It’s a game. Melissa stopped playing a long time ago. She wasn’t entitled to win. And her lack of competitive spirit explains why she is so dependent on riding her mommy’s coattail.

  • The Answer

My uncle works on the set of the Apprentice and he has the copy of the note Trump passed Joe Kramer. It said, “Yo Joe, go easy on Brande…I don’t want to have to look that ugly mug on Melissa another minute”. That’s when Joe nodded “that’s true” and went on the attack on Melissa. I can’t wait until the reunion. I bet Joan comes back next week. I understand a love a mother and daughter share…but there is something really unhealthy about that relationship. Melissa owes everything to her mother.

  • BatmansKiss

Melissa now has my full respect, and Joan was simply grand.

  • Ryan

I agree with the profession statement; if an older lady like Joan could figure out who people are she would realize the game Annie is playing. For the alliance of course they fit perfect and it was time for Melissa too stand up and be Project Manager.. that would be the only way to prove, and if they lost then you point out the alliance and possibly split the alliance because of the thrown game. Play the game ladies, and stop bickering! Before Joan has to brainwash herself in saying such nasty stuff!

  • Joan Rivers RULES

I’m pretty surprised that so many commentators here and on the web who rant about Joan Rivers are so credulous. It seems you’ve bought into the persona Rivers has worked for over 30 years to create. Brash and acerbic is JR’s modus operandi. She made her name on it, and she (wisely and delightfully) continues in that same vein.
It amuses me to see people huffing and puffing “Joan is such a meanie!” and “Joan’s a heartless nasty ___.” People, Joan is freaking hilarious. Everything that comes out of her mouth is more outrageous then the next, and my friends and family are loving it. This last episode had us ROLLING.
A word to the wise: this is what Joan Rivers DOES, not who she is. If you’ve seen her in other venues, you’ll quickly realize she’s a nice person who was clever enough to realize “niceness” doesn’t get you anywhere in showbiz. Thus, the JR brassy wit and wisdom was born.
And I’ll take that persona any day over the genuine meanness of “normal”-seeming people like Annie.

  • Chris

Joan Rivers rocks my world. Get her and Missy their own reality show, NOW!
And Jesse James … I hope he steamrolls Annie Puke, deflates blow-up Brandi and wipes that Dubya-eatin’ grin off Clint Black’s face.

  • peggy

What I’ve learned is that any star who goes on a show like this will NEVER look good. Jesse James – I can’t believe how nasty, evil and a little baby he was. Wow. And what an ego!!!
I love Joan and Melissa and will admit maybe Melissa went off the deep end last night. I think I would too if I had to deal with Annie and Brande For-goo. Annie is something else. She is probably an great person, but she does have a desperate/evil side. I think hearing/seeing her on tv is making me die a little on the inside.

  • My Opinion

This is a game. And the object of the game is to win. Brande and Annie are playing to win. Melissa is a sore loser. And, Joan will be back. I’m sure that she had to sign a contract. She won’t risk being sued, by The Donald.

  • Perspective

Joan compared Annie to someone who MURDERED 12 MILLION in death camps and was responsible for the deaths of millions upon millions more in his quest to take over the world. Let’s hold off on the sainting of Joan Rivers.

  • Jon

Joan will be back, it’s all a smoke screen. She’s going to be back with a vengeance and talk about how she wants to win to see Annie lose, etc. Melissa’s insane though — the two of them together is serious business.

  • Rob Tyson

Joan makes me roll my eyes and shake my head for two hours every Sunday night. I think that’s she’s gone overboard, but I also think that she’s earned the right to do so.
Melissa, however, has never had to earn a thing her entire life.

  • Connie

I do understand Melissa’s frustration with being fired. I’ve been frustrated all season. Trump has been firing people randomly throughout the entire show. It’s called Celebrity Apprentice not Celebrity Fundraiser. I want to see these people perform on the job, not pick up the phone and call someone with deep pockets.

  • Amy

The Rivers women made this season. It was time for Melissa to go(at least that’s how the final edit looked) but by her reaction, she showed how badly she wanted to win and that’s the spirit of the game. Most that were fired had already lost their zest to win(Brian McNight)and just slinked away. Don’t think Joan’s coming back unfortunately. Go Jesse !!!!!

  • Susan

And yet another reason to love Joan.

  • Stephanie T.

Annie is so NOT Hitler. Manipulative, true, but not some murderous insecure whack job! Melissa is spoiled brat, and Brandi is a bottle blonde beotch.

  • vivaJoan

who is kidding who here. Without Joan this show is dull as dishwater. Crazy, yes. BUT WAYYY funnier and more entertaining than a gambler, a stripper, and a mechanic. Hey, that sounds like a good song for Clint.
