That was Pig E’s evil plan all along!

Yet another example of mainstream media creating a panic in a matter of a weekend. My facemasks remain in storage.

If it didn’t destroy the world in 1976, it probably won’t now:

people “pooh-pooh” things like this… until someone they know gets seriously ill or dies.
If you want to know the current situation check out http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu

I didn’t even know about this until I turned on GMA this morning and it was “Breaking News.” Based off the of panicked coverage this illness was getting I thought it was some sort of bubonic plague, but no…it’s a flu. Seriously, people get sick and some die every year from the flu, I don’t understand why there is so much fear. As far as I can tell the only way to stay healthy is to wash your hands and stay away from sick people, just like you would a normal flu.

Maybe people shouldn’t be as worried as the regular media seems to portray they should be, but the swine flu deserves SOME attention. It deserves a little, if only for the fact that it has been driving stocks/spending down for the past couple of days. And then, there have been quite a few number of deaths in Mexico–we don’t want to run into too many situations here simply because we weren’t prepared. But this post is very accurate–the media has been creating political sides to this and just running (and going overboard) with them. I actually found a good video for a quick look at unbiased info on the swine flu situation at newsy.com. It’s worth looking at:

To Laurie: The reason for the concern is the number of deaths and the ages and health of those dying (over 100 is more than serious enough for the WHO and other health authorities to turn their full attention to), the likelihood of virus mutation, and whether it will gain in virulency or symptoms can still be dealt with by doses of Tamiflu.
Best steps: if you have symptoms seek medical help; and keep washing those hands.
And that Pig-E. What a show-hog to start a pandemic. He’s totally out of control now.

I for one have my retired to my bunker in an undisclosed location with its own atmosphere and filters and have loaded my shotguns and sharpened my machetes, preparing for the inevitable zombie onslaught.

    PIG-E!!
A guy I work with said to me yesterday, “I’m feelin’ a little swine-y”.
And, a heads up to the world: cover your mouth, wash your hands, and keep your kids home from school/stay home from work if you’re sick.

I love that New York City is considered a “state” on that CDC page…

Check out this website http://www.swine-flu-tracker.com/ that tracks the spread of swine flu, it really puts things in perspective.
