Somewhere in the middle of catching up on a backlog of Brothers & Sisters episodes this week, a strange and unexpected thing happened. Read the full post.

I’ve just given up The New Adventures of Old Christine and I am very happy about it.
I’ve been toying with losing Brothers and Sisters and now maybe I will do it.

I really enjoyed last Sunday’s episode. The witty dialogue between Kevin, Scottie, and Sarah was great. I think you are giving up too soon!!

Don’t give up on B&S! Ryan needs to clean up, but other than that…just keep watching!

I completely disagree with just about everything you’re saying. Not only are you walking away from one of the most sophisticated and quality dramas on television, but you’re doing so under the pretense of having new interests in such despicable fare as Southland.
The reality of Brothers & Sisters is that it doesn’t need all the plot twists and outside conventions that would keep fairweather fans like you at attention. It is a show about a family, and it is that – the completely believable and magnetic chemistry between its characters – that truly creates the compelling show that it is.
And, if you’re going because you’re bored trying to catch up, then see ya. Enjoy Southland. You disgust me.

you’re spot on as usual, michael. the only interesting characters are rachel griffiths and the eli stone dude brought in to romance the thin white cat. oh and i like sally field with the architect. but the justin/rebecca/ryan storyline IS boring and icky. the fact that the senator and kitty are falling apart less than a year into their stupid marriage? absurd. balthazar getty runs away to mexico? who cares. the show’s a gigantic yawn. reminds me of private practice — which i’m only still watching because i want to know whether the baby is tim daly’s or the other guys. oh and now that bill buchanan is on the show. other than that? it’s like both shows phoned in the scripts and storylines.

I agree with many of your comments, but I don’t know how you could give up so close to the finale!! At least stick through until then because if something crazy happens you’ll regret not being able to weigh in when you’ve been such a loyal viewer up until now! As for me, my love for kevin and scotty will keep me tuning in

i haven’t broken up with B&S, per se … but if i miss it, i really don’t care. the first half of this season, the walkers were SO whiny and obnoxious, i could barely watch. things have been a bit better lately … almost touching tonight … but still not appointment television. my only real break-up this year was with the now-horrifyingly unwatchable grey’s anatomy.

You are not alone with this. I used to really like B&S, but now I find myself not paying any attention to it when it is on the tv. I think it is time to part ways.

I TOTALLY agree with you! I left Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, and now I will give Brothers and Sisters one last chance. I am so over it all and Ryan could’ve been so much more interesting then he is! I am disapointed but I love Sally Field!

  • jojo

whos gay on southland???…and yes…wats up with bros n sis being so obnoxious lately!!!!…

I agree with you. I am going to give B&S until the end of the season. It needs to become more creative and not go in circles again like a soap opera. I gave up Grey’s Anatomy for that reason. For me, at least Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty have the comedy factor that keeps me staisfied over the drammatic drama. B&S needs to re-capture that comedic element and not get SO dramatic!

I quit watching B&S last season and I haven’t looked back. The only way I’d watch the show again is if they brought back Eric Winter. They made a big mistake letting him get away.

It is a shame that you do not realize what a wonderfully, smart drama Brothers and Sisters is. It might not have the huge cliffhangers employed by other shows, but that is why it is such a fantastic show. Though they are crazy at times, the Walkers are a realistic family with realistic problems. I would much rather watch that than the emotionally stunted characters on the nauseating grey’s anatomy. In my opinion B&S is the best show on the network. It is much more entertaining than Southland, Ive tried to watch that show twice but keep dozing off. Also the acting on B&S is fantastic. I am waiting for Rachel Griffiths and Matthew Rhys to receive emmys.

Glad you saw the light, Michael. I gave up on this show after the first couple of episodes this season when I also realized that I didn’t care any more about the characters. It has some really wonderful actors and great performances, but just didn’t hold my interest any more.

Sad to say I feel the same. It’s nice you’re honest. Story lines have not been great this season. I still watch it, but usually the episodes build up on my dvr before I get around to watching them.
