Somewhere in the middle of catching up on a backlog of Brothers & Sisters episodes this week, a strange and unexpected thing happened. I realized I’ve stopped giving a flying fig about a show I’ve loved and cherished for almost three whole seasons.
I don’t care about Rob Lowe’s annoying Senator McCallister and his crumbling marriage to Calista Flockhart’s Kitty (who always seems to be holding one of those "Reborn Dolls," rather than an actual baby, when she’s cradling little Evan). I don’t care about the long and ridiculously strained and very, very dull courtship between Justin and Rebecca, nor about the tepid/creepy potential triangle the writers seem to be trying to set up with newfound Walker sib Ryan Lafferty. I don’t even care to attend another of Nora’s boozy dinner-party blowouts — no matter how good that Walker Landing sauce is! And therefore, tonight, at 10 p.m. EDT, I will be dramatically deleting my series recording of B&S.
Farewell, Kevin and Scottie! (I’ve a new favorite gay character on Southland.) Farewell, Sarah Jane Morris’s Julia! (I feel kind bad abandoning you just when you started getting interesting.) And farewell, Rachel Griffiths! (We’ll always have Six Feet Under on DVD, and the hope that someday you’ll land on another series that appreciates your complex, cable-ready talents.)
Anyone else want to join me in parting ways with the traditional Desperate Housewives chaser? Or am I foolish to jump ship so close to the third-season finale?

I was sad to make that realization for myself just recently. And I cared so much in the beginning.
I have an inability to give up on shows, even if they disappoint me, so I won’t be able to join you. And I’m still getting enough enjoyment out of B&S for now.
Also, I’m going to assume that “Ron Lowe” is the third brother??
After every episode, I swear that I’m done with it.
I have no willpower, apparently. Because I’m still watching.
Wow, you must REALLY not care for the show anymore… you called Rob Lowe “Ron”. Tsk, tsk.
What??????? Michael!! OMG u cant abandon B&S its the awesomest show!!!! Kitty is gonna dump Robert’s butt and today theye are gonna get rid of that stupid Ryan and its julia’s last ep!!! come on man!1 give it a chance
I had the same realization a few months ago when I realized that multiple Brothers & Sisters episodes were clogging up the DVR. When I caught the last 15 minutes or so last week, I realized I didn’t miss the Walkers at all. It used to be my favorite Sunday night staple, and now it’s barely channel-surfing worthy.
I think you are crazy! The show has so good lately. Scottie and Kevin had such a good storyline last week. We haven’t yet found out what Ryan’s true intentions are. Tommy is not coming home! Robert’s about to lose Kitty. Julia had some screen time!! It’s getting good, don’t leave yet!

Whoops! Sorry about the ‘Ron’ typo…it’s fixed!
you’re crazy. It’s been fantastic this season…especially Calista Flockhart’s performance.
I do not understand at all. This show and Ugly Betty are the only shows keeping me from giving up on ABC altogether after I realized Grey’s Anatomy has gotten too dull and nonsensical to sit through each week. We need shows like these to prove people don’t need murder, fights, and sex to be entertained.
I just caught up on Brothers & Sisters this morning and I liked last weeks ep. I love Kevin and Scotty, and Nora has her new man back. He even left his wife for her! I hope we can have some new story lines soon and forget about Tommy.
It’s definitely been downhill lately, but nowhere near the pitfalls of Grey’s. I’ll still be hoping for an upward trajectory. It was so fun to watch and so well-done earlier in the year.
What kind of backwards DVR do you have? I can delete a show from my Series Manager at any time I choose, I don’t have to wait for it to actually come on tv.
I’m so glad to know that it’s just not me! I didn’t even finish watching last week’s episode, and I deleted it from my DVR list last night.
