Beyonce on Larry King: Says Rihanna is 'doing a lot better,' talks Obamas, Sasha Fierce

Apparently Larry King thinks Jay-Z is "a terrific performer." Who knew? This was only one of many fascinating things we learned last night when Beyonce went on Larry King Live to promote Obsessed. Gramps got her to share her thoughts on Rihanna (Beyonce said the younger singer is "doing a lot better," but asked that her privacy be respected), Michelle Obama ("She’s so chic"), and, er, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra’s version of "At Last" ("Believe it or not, I’ve never heard it"). King also asked her whether Beyonce or Sasha Fierce was the one singing "At Last" to the First Couple at the inaugural ball, betraying his utter failure to grasp the basics of the Beyonce/Sasha Fierce dichotomy. Come on, Larry, are you even trying to understand Beyonce’s role-playing concepts?! B handled his hard-hitting interviewing style with style and grace, though, and bravo to her for that.

Check out a short clip of Beyonce’s Larry King Live appearance below, or read the whole transcript at CNN.com. Did you tune in last night? How did you think Beyonce did?

It was a very good interview. Beyonce has come a long way from her old interviews.

This woman knows how to promote herself. She has an excellent work ethic. I can see now why so many people look up to her.

  • ren

That was a better interview than what I saw from her before. She is speaking better.

  • Rhonda

Im glad Beyonce is keeping silent about Rihanna.

A smart cookie? Beyonce? I’d say a sweet cookie, but not quite smart. Well, she’s not well spoken anyway.
She has talent and seems nice, but her interviews are still not her strong suit. She’s gotten a little better but that’s not really saying much.
And she said A LOT about Rihanna if you listened closely. You notice she didn’t mention jack about Chris. She did not say “pray for them” or some canned answer. Her focus is only on Rihanna, as is Jay Z’s. And she said Rihanna’s making “wise” decisions. Hmmm….She knows more than we do obviously. Beyonce is pulling for Rihanna–f@ck Chris Brown. lol Read between the lines, y’all.

She is good to look at but not very interesting when she speaks. In fact she sounds like a dumbass and her accent only makes it worse. But then again, I can’t expect much from someone who barely finished high school.

Larry, you said that the song “At Last” was recorded first by Jimmy Dorsey. In fact it was recorded by Glenn Miller in 1942 in the movie “Orchestra Wives” Bob Eberly singing.
