ABC announced this afternoon that it’s bringing back the Regis Philbin-hosted, primetime version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for a 10th anniversary two-week run. Just as we suspected!
Starting Sunday, Aug. 9, ABC will air 11 episodes of its veteran quiz series, and given the other primetime game show options, this is a shockingly pleasant step in the right direction. Plus…this is still one of my all-time favorite game show moments:

This is still an enjoyable show in syndication. plus i still catch the regular version on gsn occasionally. good stuff. I’ll definitely be tuning in.
by the way, that was a really awesome moment in the show. what a way to win and announce to everyone that he knew the answer and was going to be the first big winner!!
I’m happy for this brief return. I hope they use “fastest fingers” to get to the hot seat. That part I liked and is not part of syndicated version.

10th anniversary? original host? SWEET, i’ll watch. it’ll take me back in time a little bit… remember when Millionaire was such a big pop culture phenomenon? and we were all still livin it up 90s style?
I don’t think I will be watching if Regis is the host. I loved it when Meredith took over but I hate the show now. They took all the fun out of it months ago. Sorry but will be running for the hills on this one.

I’m happy that this show will return, even if it’s only for a limited run. I still enjoy the reruns with either host on GSN, although I prefer Regis. Meredith isn’t nearly as fun of a host.
This show is so 10 years ago. If it wasn’t for Slumdog, no one whould care about it’s anniversary.
About time Regis came back…can’t deal with Meredith.

Yay!! I stopped watching when Regis left as host. He’s totally annoying on most other things but on Millionaire he’s brilliant!
YES!!! I finally saw the movie, Slumdog Millionaire and I am totally hooked on that game again. I even started playing the home version of the game again. I hate the lame version they play in syndication and am so excited to see the real deal coming back with Regis in August. Can’t Wait! Thank God there will be an awesome show on tv this summer!!!
I’ll probably watch a few episodes. Even though I can’t stand Regis, I did like this show when it first started. Sadly, like everything that becomes a hit, they over-exposed it in a MAJOR way.
Also the annoying game show pauses are really too much. Main reason I stopped watching, same as Deal or No Deal and Are You Smarter… It drives me crazy! “We’ll find out the answer….(yawn)….(seriously?)….(all kinds of dramatic music)….after the break.” Click. If I am not sure of the answer and actually care, I can google it before the end of the second commercial!

Too bad they can’t have the guy that played the host in “Slumdog Millionaire” be the host. I liked him (and just love the way he says “millionaire”).
Love the Millionaire Game Show and Love Regis. Stopped watching it when the pin-head celebrities took over. It went downhill from there! If they can just have the average joe on, it will get my viewing attention every time.

I think the real question is how one goes about getting on this Regis run. Anyone have an answer? The site for the syndicated show doesn’t have anything about auditions for this run and the ABC site doesn’t have anything in their casting section. Any ideas other than waiting until something appears in either place?

I am so glad the Regis is back Not that thing (!!!!!! !!!) Meredith Vieira terrible she think it is the view .she does not know when to shut up.
It’s fine, only a 2 week run… should be entertaining. But what’s with this clip? Looks and sounds like a cell camera. Next time take the minute to use a cable to record it to your ‘puter from your TV/VCR…It’s a lot less nauseating.
