Hey, a clip from the new season of True Blood! I’m torn between being psyched and being a little embarrassed that I’m psyched because…True Blood isn’t always that good. It can be very sexy, and I have enjoyed it here and there, and Tara is aaaaawesome, but this clip bring back some bad memories:
…like how ear-assaultingly awful those accents are. This is worse than the cockney accents on Gossip Girl last night. Or how confusing Bill and Sookie’s relationship is: How can someone who’s over 100 years old be in love with someone so immature? I know she’s supposed to seem sweet and virginal and all, but she comes across as incapable of adult-level reasoning. "I’m WALKING!" stomp stomp stomp? Through the forest of goblins? She’s supposed to be our strong-willed heroine, but sometimes I think she could lose a head-to-head IQ test against Heidi Montag.
That said, the clip sure was spooky — TB does moody and supernatural really well — and I am incredibly curious what the badly manicured woodland beast is.
What about you, PopWatch nation? Can’t wait to sink your teeth into the new season of True Blood? Or does True Blood just bite?

Ahhh… as someone who has read all of the books in the series thus far I’ll stay mum on what the creature is. I think the accents are pretty darn cute. Sookie isn’t supposed to be a badass.. her immaturity is supposed to show but at the same time she’s trying to figure out how to proceed with a relationship that’s so complex. I think the writers have done a phenomenal job of bringing Charlaine Harris’ vision to life
This show is amazing. Sure it’s sometimes cheesy, there are iffy accents and some just ‘wtf, how is this a show’ moments but hell…I am looking way forward to more Ryan Kwanten. Preferably shirtless.
I really enjoyed the first season, this show imo can only get better.
I love this show. And as with Natalie, I’ve read all the books. Sookie isn’t SUPPOSED to be the perfect, (always) intelligent heroine. She does stupid things. Its part of what makes her character entertaining.
TB is one of those rare shows where I like every single main character. From Sookie to Sam to Bill to Eric to Tara to Jason, they are all fabulous. Oh, and the supporting cast and guest stars are perfect. It’s the perfect mix of camp, horror, sexiness, drama, and comedy. I love it. I didn’t even watch it until the second half of the season, but it hooked me and I’m dying for the new season. Also, Sookie was a 25 year old virgin, who just lost her grandma, can read people’s minds, and is in love with a vampire. Immaturity and flakiness is not surprising in this case. She’s got more in common with Jason than she would probably admit.
lol true blood- i love it but it doesnt deserve any awards… and really? more of her brother shirtless? that was the whole first season- it was rather annoying
I really enjoy True Blood. I am trying to budget HBO into my move to a new apartment just so I can stay on top of the storylines. Thankfully it doesn’t start until june 14th! I love how this show is really a social commentary, just take out the vampire element and add in just about any prejudice. I’m glad that HBO is supporting it.
I’ll take a cue from Natalie and not spill the beans about the monster. I cant wait to see how they tackle the 2nd book in the series…I’ll confess, it wasnt my favorite book of the series, but I’ll definitely make for a great season story!
I am absolutely ready. I love the show for basically everything besides Bill and Sookie. They are sort of background noise to me. His new little vampire is funny and all the other characters are wonderful.
Whoever wrote this article needs to do some more research on True Blood, like read the books kind of research. To make comments about the relationship between Bill and Sookie, what the creature in the woods is, and about Sookie’s character flaws shows how someone didn’t do their homework and it shows. Next time someone decides to write an article about the show or a show (or movie) based on a book should be much more prepared.
No ONE is going to tell what the creature is? Da**it. I was going to tell. It is the cause for Sookie to stomp out of the card like that though
For a site that’s spent the last 6 months fellating Twilight, calling the female protagonist of True Blood immature seems clinically insane.
I just ordered the “On Demand” service from my Digital Cable provider, hoping I could catch up on Dexter and True Blood. So I buy it…and they are gone! Crapppp, I was too late.

Woah….!!
You can’ry judge something like that without even have seen the whole scene or the scene leading up to ti. I’ve seen a longer version of that clip and Sookie actually says she’s sorry for what she did. Not sure if I’m allowed to say what she did. And if you have seen the whole season, you would have seen that Sookie is not ALWAYS like that. Their relationship is beautoful.
Bad, bad article
OK yes, I get a little moody when someone is bashing my all time favorite couple, LOL
I really wanted to like this show. I watched the whole first season, and while there were a few good moments, on the whole it was pretty bad.
I’ll watch the second season, though. I pay for HBO, so I might as well use it.
As for the creature in the woods, I’m gonna guess Minotaur? Looked like a dude with bull horns to me. (Never read the books.)
“And if you have seen the whole season, you would have seen that Sookie is not ALWAYS like that” – sure she is. Annoying as hell.
