I am gay and am against gay marriage. Straight couples have changed the traditional marriage that used to be aboout love and commitment to greed and financial gain, not to mention what it does to their F*d up kids. I think that two daddies or two mommies would make things worse for all. I think the laws should change to make tax priveledges, benefits, etc equal for all but I dont think I would ever support the term “gay” in front of marriage. Just my thoughts on the whole time and money consuming issue.
We live in a progressive era. “Legalization” of gay marriage will eventually occur, everyone knows this; if you don’t,you just did. Anyone who fights it, is fighting the inevitable. Stop wasting your time. If you don’t like it, don’t get one.
Hey Olin, how about when opposers of gay marriage have said very similar things to you! Wasn’t so black and white then now, was it. I don’t care if gay marriage is “inevitable”. I will still never support it, agree with it, or stop “fighting” to keep marriage as it was intended to be. You wanna fight for rights? go right ahead, I would never wish to stop you from “fighting”. Please though, come up with your own cermony and leave “marriage” out of it. There are still millions of people who actually value marriage and are committed to it and it’s purpose…according to what God has meant for it to be. So here’s to you….stop wasting your time trying to “shut people up”…when you yourself can and will not do the very same. Hypocrite.
Sailhardy — I think you have hit upon it. Donald Trump is too lazy to take on the really important work so he hires cockroaches. This is so much like Jerry Springer. Neither venue contains any human intellectual redeming value – it is all pornography, in the dictionary definition sense. However, as a commercial endeavor, both the Jerry Springer show and the Miss USA Pageant are MONEY MAKERS – money trumps (no pun intended) every intellectual consideration. Nothing personal, just business. BUT if you want to influence this sort of thing, don’t watch, don’t buy sponsors products, send emails to sponsors, and harrass the producers — it’s nothing personal, just business.
I still cannot see where the word “gay” applies to queers and lesbians, are they ashamed of the title Queer or Lesbian? It appears that over 90% of Californians are either queer or lesbian and when someone makes a remark about their choice as Miss California did, they come up in arms and dictate that Donald (Duck) Trump fire her. Who needs the pageant anyway, it is just a platform for queers and lesbians.
Olin – it is ALL a matter of specific terminology. If gays want to have a union I would not favor it but I would not interfere. However, gay marriage is an oxymoron. Army Intelligencee, Jumbo Shrimp, – can’t use the two words in the same phrase to make a sensible idea.
Gay union, civil union, un-civil union, sodomy-union – all cool with me, but marriage is a word ALREADY specifically defined in all languages in which it translates.
Now, how would you like it if a large (but still minority) element of the population started referring to mountain lions which prey on mountain goats as “gay” mountain lions, who were engaged in gay-preying? Further, the mountain lions were then said to be ‘mating’ with the goats?
Clearly ALL deceitful statements. All leading to the unpersuasive conclusion that mountain lions mate with mountain goats. These are WORDS – with no meaning.
Gays will never ‘marry’ – in the minds and hearts of mankind and womankind. Only gaykind.
Bob, Your question is not only poignent, it is relevant. Gay used to mean bright in color, merry, or care free. It also meant ‘debauched” – probably the root of the current conntation. The other 3 meanings have fallin into disuse except in novels of the 17th and 18th century. Now, it means “relating to sexual attraction or activity among members of the same sex”, or in the abbreviated form – queer or lesbian.
I am heterosexual. I do not fear gays or their ideas. I do fear their agenda, because it is political and un-ending. All sorts of minority interests have the ear of every congressman around the country, being begged to lend legitimacy to whatever movement …. trust me, once Obama has the several minority races all beholden to him, he will discover a new sensitivity to people of rainbow color. That is when the queer movement will get a toehold in US policy making.
The ONLY upside is that pretty soon, we will be a minority and can qualify for all the Fed goodies.
That question should never have been asked because there is no way she could have answered it in a ‘correct’ manner. Questions such as that, like abortion, are ridiculous for a beauty pagent. This is a clear case of digusting, vile Perez trying to further his own agenda and in a vicious, controlling manner. He is the lowest of the low, and that thing with him, equally trashy Shanna Moakler should be banished from all media. They deserve nothing good.
Good for you Carrie! Talk about zero tolerance. Perez and his group of idiots have none! Talk about bigots….they’re the biggest of all! If you want to point out the “hypocrisy” of others, you all might want to start with your own. Marriage to many Christians is something sacred. You all think you have the right to take something so sacred to someone and make it into something it’s not! If you want rights, that’s one thing. Just don’t take marriage and make something it was never meant to be! come up with your own “sacred” ceremony. Just leave “marriage” out of it!
