'Twilight': Did they get the 'New Moon' cast right?

Cameronbrightgreene_lLooks like New Moon is finally full: Twilight studio Summit unveiled the final cast lineup on its website yesterday, confirming that relative unknowns like Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd) and Daniel Cudmore (X-Men: The Last Stand) will be on board for the sequel. They’ll be joining newbies Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen, and Graham Greene, along with Twilight vets Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.

The casting seems pretty solid to me, but I’m no Twilight expert. Which is why I’m leaving the verdict up to you, PopWatchers: Did Summit get it right? Will Bright shine as Fanning’s evil twin? Can Supernatural‘s Christopher Heyerdahl take a bite out of Marcus? And does Graham Greene — Oscar nominee for his role in Dances with Wolves — make a worthy Harry Clearwater? Let us know what you think!

Am I really the first to comment? And not even a Twilighter…well I love the guy from Sweeney Todd, hope this movie’s better than the last one.

I think the casting was brilliant. Much better than I had anticipated. Chris Weitz seems really invested and that’s always good to see.

This movie is like what a year away and I’m already sick of it. EW did the same crap last year with Twilight. Tone it down. The constant barrage of articles for New Moon makes the EW staff look like they’re on the movie’s payroll

I think they did a very good job with casting. I’m most excited about Graham Greene because he does a fantastic job with whatever her does. Michael Sheen as Aro is perfect; I think he’ll add the correct “creepiness” to the role. Aro is a dangerous vampire, but he has this weird niceness…I also think that casting relative unknowns for the other roles will be able to support their characters but won’t be overpowering. There is enough star power to back up the movie without becoming a distraction. I am most excited, though, about Cameron Bright playing Alec to Dakota Fanning’s Jane. They will be a great dynamic duo and I can’t wait to see how they balance each other out, not only as actors but as a diabolical team.

This cast seems more solid than the first movie. I’m glad that despite the movie being marketed towards tweens, the studio is taking it more seriously. I had to google some of the names to get an idea of who was playing whom. So far so good on my end.

Who cares?!?!?!?! The movie is going to be a complete cheesefest, just like the first one.

As long as they Robert Pattinson cast as Edward they have it right.

Oh YES! It’s perfect I think. I am sooooo excited for NM. It is however my least favorite book out of the four because I am sooooo Team Edward, but everything about next installment of the series seems to be coming along just fabulously!!! OMG, I can’t wait!

I think the selection for the Volturi is perfect! I love Jamie Campbell Bower!
    Graham Greene rocks!!!!
    Can’t wait to see it!

Solid casting. Hope the movie lives up to all the hype.

Does it matter? There’s no way this movie will be as atrocious as the first one, so everything they do has to be an improvement.

  • heather

It was my least favorite book in the series too, hopefully they will put a more exciting spin on it. Focusing on the Voltari will make it more entralling.

I think that they are doing an amazing job with the casting. I never knew anything about the Twilight series until a coworker brought in the books for me to read!

  • Annie

I love this casting, Weitz did an amazing job.
