Being a (wannabe) cougar myself, I should begin this mini-TV watch on TV Land’s The Cougar by saying I have no interest in holding court with 20 men under 30 who go by names like Bodie and dream up cornball lines like "How will you taste me if I’m not on your plate?" Nope, can’t even say I’ve fantasized about ridiculous situations like this. Still, TV Land’s redux on The Bachelor franchise (both are from executive producer Mike Fleiss) still piqued my interest, if only to see if turnabout was fair play when it came to May-December romances. I’m here to tell you it’s not – though I congratulate fellow sisters like Stacy Anderson of Arizona (a.k.a. the show’s first cougar), who have stretched their cute years well into their 40s (though I guess she’s only 40). But I got no pleasure in watching this commercial Realtor (with four kids of her own!) "kiss off" a bunch of immature schlubs so she could still hold court with 15 other immature schlubs. Seriously, what was so appealing about Ryan, the 29-year-old crow-eating sap from the military who made the mistake of saying she was "too old to be a cougar"? And really, did I miss something about Officer Nick, the 27-year-old meathead whose idea of a pickup line was to say, "You’re under arrest, for stealing my heart…you have the right to remain delicious"? And she kissed those guys, to boot! Even the bachelorettes on the ABC mothership didn’t have to smooch their picks on the first date. Yuck!
Still, I tried valiantly to play along. I gave a thumbs up to the 23-year-old martial arts instructor named Johnny for stripping down to his blue skivvies in a not-so-obvious attempt to show off his ripped bod. (And by God, it worked: Homeboy didn’t get the kiss off!) And I also was entranced by the adorable, blond Travis, even though the sight of him kissing the cougar on his 21st birthday made me want to wash my eye sockets out with soap (and seek absolution from my priest).
What did you think of the show? Did you cringe — or clap — when Stacy kissed off the losers? Do you think she’ll find true love? Or are you secretly hoping that host Vivica A. Fox reveals herself to be the real (and well deserved) cougar of TV Land?

I think Jon, the guy with the real job and the real house, has a shot. He seems stable enough to be long term, but young enough to keep her interested.
I also wondered if the twin brother who ducked out ever planned to stick with the show or if they just convinced him to sign on for the opening episode to keep it “interesting.”
That was the most horrible thing I ever saw (and mostly I was watching “Millionaire,” during that hour, anyway). I can’t believe she was so mean as to tell the 2nd twin (who bowed out in apparent solidarity with his brother who had been rejected minutes before) “That’s okay, I was going to give you my cheek anyway.” Was that really necessary? “The cheek” is too much.
Did I watch? Frak no, I was watching and rewatching Susan Boyle on Youtube. She’s far more talented and charming than a whole pit full of Botoxed cougars.
So – now that Rock of Love BUS has finished up its season.. I decided to watch the COUGAR show tonight. wow !
First of all, the young guys are for the most part, fantastic looking – and the woman that is the Cougar seems nice enough. She has a tough job , choosing from all the guys.
I found it a bit creepy, that a few of the dudes are so young -that she could be their Mother..eeewww !But, as light entertainment/Reality TV , I thought it was FUN. A friend of mine watched it with me – she is also over 45 – and we liked the show ….
Ryan the ex-marine was so hot and is cockiness only made him way sexier than the others. The exception may be that total stud johnny who is tastefuly funny and still very hot. Why the “homeboy” comment about Johnny? The think that the best Cougar prey of the first episode would have to be Johnny, Ryan and Nick.
I so wanted Vivica Fox to get a real chance at a substantial acting career after Kill Bill. This is so beneath her, but I suppose the woman has to earn a living somehow.
Viv is the queen B on this show. All the other Cougs pale in her wake.

Pathetic show. As if a successful commercial reator would heve much in commom with an unemployed 23-year old. As for the hotness factor; less than 50% of those guys had it – the others are dorks and from the way a couple of them acted, dubious if they’ve been on a date before and having to kiss all of them! Please. Great example for your daughters, Stacy!!!
I thought it was fun to watch all these guys making total fools out of themselves for her-the ex-Marine seemed a little scary after a few drinks picking a fight with the guitar guy but Nick was super hot! Im definitely watching this one.

I absolutely love this show! Only because of Stacy. I could have done without the awkard “kissing” however I give them credit for attempting to do something different than a rose. I have nothing but respect for this woman and I hope it empowers women all over the world to embrace what our ancestors have worked so hard for us to be able to have. “sexual empowerment, independence and a right to turn the tables on the men (or boys in this case) I think there are a couple of ‘men’ on the show that have potential. The rest are waaaay too young…I am excited to see what develops and if Stacy reads this I want to say ” YOU GO GIRL!”
I LOVED THE SHOW! FINALLY, A SHOW THAT SHOWS HOW SEXY OLDER WOMEN ARE! AS A COUGAR MYSELF I GET TONS OF ATTENTION FROM YOUNGER MEN. I THOUGHT EVEN THE MEN WERE A GOOD MIX OF THE REAL THING.
The show is a joke! It’s all about sex! No one EVER makes a real connection. These guys won’t even get thier REAL brin until they’re 30!

This was definately one of those things you can’t tear your eyes away because you dont want to miss anything worth laughing at. I watched the whole “kiss off” asking myself if she was really going to do this for the whole series. Who does that? And Cougar?! I think not! She looks younger than me (29) They should at least get somebody who looks older but well kept.

TV LAND has sold out!! This channel should showcase classic television and not some vapid reality show.

Watched the show, kind of underwhelmed, the guys are just too young for me. More power to her if she likes that, although I felt 21 WAS too young. I was glad I didn’t have to date them – honestly. No words of wisdom will ever come out of one of em.
if America didnt want this type of show then it wouldnt be on tv.. we like LCD entertainment and this is no different.. except for the double standard that exists for women.. I thought the show was a joke and since everyone got “paid” (either monetarily or via national exposure)I guess we should be happy for them. Regarding the comment about teachers getting ideas for sex with their students, I can say UNEQUIVOCALLY, as a college professor and former high school teacher, that the idea of having sex, kissing or having more than a 2 minute conversation with a child ( someone under 30) makes me want to rip off my skin while I puke!! If they ever did a REAL DATING SHOW FOR REAL ADULTS over 40, I might be interested..Until then good luck to all cougars, jaguars and panthers and the men who do them.
Yes, this show is pure trash, but it is somewhat refreshing to see a woman over 30 on any show, especially a show where she is being pursued by men. The norm is to see young, young, young girls EVERYWHERE, not just on the dating shows. The media has consistently sent the impression that if you are a woman over 25 or so, you are no longer attractive (Girls Gone Wild, Miley Cyrus, any kind of porn, sports cheerleaders, Spanish novellas where the girl is about 18 and the guy who loves her is 35, everywhere). Even in this show, the Cougar looks about 28!!!! They can’t possibly put a 40-year-old woman on TV that actually looks her age! That would be unacceptable.
Reality shows are far from real as we know, but I’m glad the tables are turned for once where we have a woman being pursued instead of 40-something men pursuing 20-something women. :::rolleyes:::: Look if Demi Moore can be a cougar and still with her “cub”, it’s wrong to call this woman a slut and yes, I love younger men, too.
Please stop showing this new stuff. I once watched TV Land because it was one channel I could trust to have the classic television shows. I want the Waltons, Little House…, Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, Bob Newhart the Inn., Beverly Hillbillies, M.A.S.H., The Flintstones, and so on. Also, get rid of the movies on TV Land! Please hear my reply. No reality TV or Movies. Just blocks of classic 30 minute TV shows.
