'Lost': "Some Like It Hoth" pre-recap recap!

Categories: Lost

Last night’s Lost was steeped in Star Wars homage, from the title (“Some Like It Hoth”) to the hilarious bit of business of back-in-time Hurley opportunistically taking advantage of his future knowledge to write the screenplay for The Empire Strikes Back. (“Fury fist.” LOL). (Click after the jump for a spoilery taste of Jeff’s coming recap.)

Miles Straume—revealed to be Pierre Chang’s son, as we allsuspected—played multiple roles, including destiny-seeking Luke andcynical hustler Han. We saw Jack try to pull off his equivalent of aJedi mind trick by bullying Roger Linus into leaving Kate alone. (Total‘These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.’) And I got a LandoCalrissian vibe from Sawyer as he scrambled around trying to preservehis Cloud City good thing. My recap is a little slow in coming today—weshould have it up later this morning—but feel free to start talking inthis space. Who are these “What lies in the shadow of the statue?”people? What did you make of Hurley’s reaction to seeing The Swan beingbuilt? (I’ll sum up my assessment in two words: Death Star.) Andfinally: Daniel Faraday’s back! Dressed in ominous Dharma black. Has hegone to the dark side? Go!

    Daniel’s totally gone bad. Trust.
Think the people who tried to sway Myles were probably working for Ben.
Does this make Locke “Yoda”? And who would be the Ewoks?

  • Laura K.

Hard to know who they were working for…but at least one of them (the one who actually talked to him) was on Ajira 316. I think his name is Bram? He’s with Ana-Lucia’s (I mean Ilana’s) posse.

When Hurley was watching the Swan station being built and rattled off the numbers on the hatch, I almost thought he was about to say “That’s no moon, it’s a space station.”

The “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” people are members of a third party working for the mysterious Alvar Hanso. It’s time to bring him back into the picture.

  • jen

i really think these new island people are representing a 3rd party. i return to the island by the Dharma folks. We know about Ben & Widmore, however they were both on the side of the others. After the purge the Dharma folks have been trying to regain control of the island & find it again.

Well I guess all those theories on why Sun didn’t jump because she can’t be in two places at the same time are shot to hell.

  • TheHIl

I don’t think the “what lies in the shadow of the statue” gang are working for Alvar Hanso- but I do think they are new DHARMA. Which makes me feel like Widmore’s desire to get Locke to the island was sincere. Perhaps his feud with Ben has nothing to do with the approaching war, and both are technically “on the same side,” i.e. the Others. They just hate each other’s guts and have a thing for killing each other’s daughters.

It was especially interesting to me that Dr. Chang completely wrote off the Hydra island polar-poo experiments as completely unnecessary and mindless. Is/was Dharma all a cover for his underground experiments?

  • benulous

I think the “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” people are actually off-island others/hostile-folk. We’ve already seen Ben, Widmore, Mr. [really] Friendly and RA do it. Also, I got to thinking that Faraday and crew are going to be the original cause of the ‘first’ incident and that’s how they end up back in the future…also, I imagine Chang will help them and that’s why he ends up abruptly disappearing…

  • Shamrock

Kate was rocking those bell bottoms.

  • jcarla

So Hurley is ‘writing’ ESB with a few minor changes. So what changes do you want to be made to ESB? Other than more Lando, I thnk ESB is perfect.

  • srq2000

Bram in the Van with Miles saying he shouldn’t work for Widmore makes me think Bram works For Ben? Bram with Llana on the Island 316 folks makes me think they both work for Ben and the Comment Ben made to Llana last week on the Beach was a code as someone mentioned in the comment last week.

  • Nick

i think the shadow of statue people are Ben’s people. He is trying to get the island back. the short guy that got shot was either widmores or he really isn’t dead and it was staged by Ben to fool Locke. Ben could easily be setting everthing up to pull the wool over Locke’s eyes. It is going to be Ben’s people vs the Others (now lead by Locke). But Locke will need help so he gets the oceanic6 back to the present.

  • zman

Ben has a network of people off island, remember those people he spoke of while leaving Locke at the butcher shop. The scene in the season premier of Farraday at the dig before Dharma discovers the wheel? That was a look at the season finale, where Farraday will try to destroy the wheel via Jughead, to preserve Charlotte of course. Miles and his mom sent away by Dr Chang when an “accident happens.” (nuclear release)The whole show is about redemption now, especially fathers. And this accident will cause the cancer of Miles’ mom as well as the infertility problems. Also, can they explain why old Miles was able to look at baby Miles? Unless Miles is a Christian Shepherd-esqe ghost. That would make it easier to talk ot the dead, right?

  • jj

good comment on chang- he will help out the O6 and disappear/die while helping. the shadow of the statue people seem to me like the equivelent of the “rebel forces ” in star wars… continuing the SW theme- luke could talk to dead people too- luke, yoda, etc. maybe the dead people on the island will guide him.
