She has rejigged her offical website and has tsarted writing a blog, which explains what “might” have gone wrong:

So… the world’s falling apart, as usual!

I just wanted to drop a line to visitors to the site… Thank you for all of the support you’ve given me over the last month or so! Too many messages to highlight here, but, we will be working out the issue of autographed photo requests. To those of you who have asked, be assured you’re request is not lost in the void.

On the work front, there IS more to come, two projects I’m particularly excited about for this year.

Although, I feel it’s important to explain the uh, lag (?) in product: It’s my fault. Out of stubbornness and a selfish desire to recede from a particular sort of scrutiny I find unsettling to say the least, I have abandoned the unmentioned ‘duties’ of actresses. I haven’t been to any parties, haven’t taken useless meetings… haven’t ‘put myself out there’ as they say. See what happens when you revolt against the things you don’t like in society? NOTHING! LOL

Anyway, please don’t give up on me yet. There’s still a few rays of hope in this weird life yet, and I’ll probably pull through at some point.

So it means that she is probably aware of what went wrong and is planning to come back at some later stage. Now does that give you hope?

Have you even seen the movie? Know what it’s about? Probably not. I doubt any of you can read past the logos on your T-shirts. I wonder if Tim Stack has seen it, or if he is just desperate to drum up controversy for an otherwise inane web site. Some films are poorly marketed and the trailers simply do not do them justice.

Birch is not a leading lady type of actress. She is a character actress, and a very adept one. She continues to hone her craft and does not make schlock. What have you guys done with your lives up to now? It is interesting to see people with no accomplishments condemn the work of others using a misguided set of standards, or acting out of jealousy.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get your film degrees?

Well, I want to defend her being said that she is “unpretty” or “not conventionally pretty”. I think she is very pretty, so natural unlike other hollywood chicks..There is something in her that makes her hot. She’s hot, very underrated. She just need a big break and eventually come back on where she left..

I like Thora Birch, she’s an actress with gravitas and a natural beauty at that; not some Hollywood 2 dimensional cut-out figure. As for her choice in films, sure she does more indie than mainstream and that’s not a bad thing and probably not her choice. There are just too few roles for too many good actors in Hollywood. Thank God for indie film otherwise many good actors wouldn’t be working these days. BTW, Thora Birch & Keith Carradine have collectively been in 82 films…that’s called staying power people!!!

I loved Thora Birch since Hocus Pocus, and Ghost World is one of my favorites. I too thought she would be a mega star by now. The Hole was pretty good, and is the last movie I saw her in. I agree she’d be great for a comeback on a HBO or Showtime series. Her upcoming stuff does not look promising…”Cavegirl”…no, please, no!
