There’s a very good reason this week’s episode of The Celebrity Apprentice had the teams compete in one and a half tasks: The first one just wasn’t all that interesting. No matter how talented the editors, even they couldn’t squeeze two hours out of it.
We picked up after last week’s boardroom, when everyone found out who got axed and who stayed. Joan summed up what I’d like to believe were everyone’s feelings after the viral video challenge: ”Clint is a jackass.” Melissa called out The Donald’s unfounded firing of Khloe: ”You don’t punish someone for trying to change.” And Annie summed up what I’d like to believe were everyone’s feelings about the viral video challenge: ”Your video did suck, Clint, by the way.”
Watch the full ep below, or find out who got canned after the jump.
As for the first task, identity theft = serious problem. Identitytheft prevention service = probably very useful. Selling the identitytheft prevention service on reality TV = not terribly exciting. It wasyour typical Apprentice-type challenge — come up withmarketing concept, create a display, present it to company execs. Youknow, the usual. As much as the editors tried (Jesse James vomits eighttimes from a stomach virus! KOTU’s graphic sticker is too small! Annietakes over, even though she’s not in charge!), this week’s ”drama”didn’t hold a candle to last week’s head-butting. And the boardroom wasequally as tame — it was pretty clear Brian had mentally checked outon the game, so when he conceded defeat and admitted he didn’t care ifhe stayed or not, Trump gave him the ol’ heave-ho.
The new challenge proved to be much more interesting (and ripe fordrama). The remaining contestants were to plan and host an auction ofpieces from Ivanka Trump’s jewelry line. Sooooo many things could gowrong: choosing the pieces (understated or showy?), choosing the models(should the guys or gals pick ‘em?), shopping for clothes (fancy gownsor daywear?), raising the money (bug your friends, or wait until theirmoney will go to your charity?). Annie finally stepped up as projectmanager, so we’ll get to see if she can put her money where her mouthis (apparently the lady has heaps of rich friends). Unfortunately, wewon’t get to see it until next week.
What did you think of last night’s episode? Did the best team win?Did the right person go home? Were you as pleased as I was that Joancalled out Trump on the Khloe incident? Was Annie too domineering inthe first task? Were you amused or annoyed by Melissa’s whine-festabout Brande and Annie’s newfound friendship (and ”two-facedness”)?Oh, and the special mystery guest they hinted at? Piers Morgan, lastyear’s winner. Can we say ”letdown”? Finally, are you excited to seehow the auctions play out next week?

I can’t get over how pathetic it is that Trump fired Khloe for a DUI over a year ago. Absolute trash. That means: a) his researchers suck, b) the producers suck, and c) he’s an assh0le. She’s taking responsibility. Without second chances, Trump himself would be a washed up, poor former millionaire.
I am digging Annie. I hope she TROUNCES that overprotective sore-loser Joan.
I haven’t liked Natalie til this week, but give that girl the title solely for the brilliant idea of getting money from Annie’s enemies.
Joan and Melissa are like… wow. Has Melissa considered telling Brandi what Annie said last week? If she’s dismayed by the partnership, she could try to do something about it. But, oh wait – this is Melissa. She could tell her mom to do something about it!
I like Melissa more and more each week. I do think, though, that momma Joan is waaaayyyy to protective of her daughter, however.
Brande and Annie? Could those two have been any further up each other’s butt’s??? {retching} It was so FAKE. And very high school.
I loved how Herschel and Clint “interviewed” the models. Funny!
I love Jesse James on the show…while he’s quiet and not loud and obnoxious as most of them are, he is very intelligent and appears to have a very good business sense. More than that though, doesn’t he seem to be the one that is really normal acting and down to earth? I think he’s a serious threat to the others. Melissa Rivers is a whiner. And all her “years of experience” …thank goodness for Mommy because I don’t think we would even know her name.
Sorry ew, you know i love coming to your site and reading your recaps, but the apprentice recap still bothers me. Not because it feels forced and we had to beg for an extra paragraph or two, but rather that you can’t find anyone on the ew staff to write it who actually enjoys the show. I was THRILLED to see Piers – not a letdown at all. I thought Joan vs. Annie ….how could this get any better, and then they add Piers. His wit and humor is going to make next week’s episode by far the best.
This show was actually very interesting, now it has become the JOAN & MELISSA SHOW .They make you want to puke the way the act on the show. Joan is going to quite every time she don’t get her way.Melissa needs to get a grip and realize that’s the way life is, one day there your friend the next day they will stab you in the back. The whole show is about Joan and Melissa now and people are losing interest in the show.
I was both amused and annoyed at Melissa’s whine-fest. Anything that gets either of the Rivers worked up is a funny thing. They really are pains in the arse.
Joan Rivers needs to be medicated. Seriously. Or put in a home.
It was a litttle strange having 2 tasks in one episode…now what, next week they are just showing the auction and aftermath? I like piers being brought back…Melissa let it slip she works for mom Joan’s jewelry company “I was brought in”….yeah like they were just begging for your expertise dear. Im sure you being Joans daughter had nothing to with it!
I think Joan is out of line, and acting bizarrely. She smashes a glass and splashes champagne all over her outfit and the other people? Over react much?
I do think Brande was way off in only worrying about what she was going to wear, but Melissa came off as completely jealous whenever Annie and Brande were together. I’m not a fan of Annie or her personality, but I thought she handled things well in the boardroom after the identity theft challenge. She talked about Brian not being concerned about the time constraints. She also brought up Brande’s lack of initiative. There was no reason for Donald to get rid of Melissa this week, and Joan’s losing it and saying Melissa was going, they were all after her, Annie was a two-faced lier, Joan was going to leave too, etc. was completely crazy. She should have worried about Melissa going last week when she was project manager and someone from both teams was going to be sent home and Clint didn’t bring Joan back to the boardroom where she could have looked after her baby, not this week when it was obvious Brian was going. Except when he was singing, Brian has always seemed too laid back to me.
Last night was really boring! I sincerely hope that it was the editing that caused Melissa to be so irritating – if not, her psychological development stalled in junior hight school. Petty jealousy much? As for Joan….good Lord woman – your daughter is 40 years old! Control yourself!
Joan’s throwing and smashing her glass only shows how childish she is and sooooo used to having it her way. I think Brian was fed up with all these silly girls and lack of maturity. I will miss him – he was real, therefore didn’t fit in with all the phonies.
I was surprised that Joan didn’t choose to pick out the jewelry, since selling jewelry is one of her things. Then we could have seen her and Melissa either fight it out over their selections, or help each other and try to figure out how Melissa could sabatoge Annie without getting eliminated. It was nice to see Joan and Clint put their differences aside and work together. Joan even accepted Clint’s line for her “bubble” on the identity theft challenge and stole it for the commercial.
I was glad that Joan said something to the Donald about firing Khloe. But the Donald didn’t back down said she had to learn a lesson. He is such a hypocrite, he gave Miss USA/America a 2nd chance but not Khloe. Khloe did the jail time. How about firing your producers for not knowing, it was in the news and all over E!. And did he really think that Dennis Rodman was going to be an angel during filming? I wish they would go back to this being a job interview not a celebreality show.
