Can Adam Scott just be famous already, please?

Adamscott_lAttention, fans of handsome fellows: It’s time to make Adam Scott a star. He is good looking! He is sardonic and funny! He is kind of everywhere! If that’s not a star-making trifecta, I don’t know what is.

The Party Down* lead has been cast on the highish-profile upcoming HBO comedy The Wonderful Maladys as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s businessman ex. I remember him best as Palek, proud recipient of a graphic HJ on Tell Me You Love Me, though I also enjoyed his performance as Veronica Mars’ scummy history teacher. He was good in The Aviator, and he was funny in Step Brothers — ugh, enough already, time to be really famous/beloved. I’m hoping Maladys will solidify his role as bonafide object of desire, but maybe I’ll have to wait for the 2010 release of his romcom with Amy Adams (Leap Year).

Who’s on Team Adam Scott with me, PopWatchers?

He stole the show away in Step-Brothers. I have been on team Adam since then?

I think Scott is talented, but his particular brand of humor doesn’t exactly hit the kind of likability/approachability that works so well for Steve Carell or the Apatow gang. He’s got one of those “I’m pissed off” faces, too (like P. Diddy) – doesn’t mean he’s ACTUALLY an angry guy, but doesn’t help his “star” cause, either.

Wasn’t he on Boy Meets World back in the day? If so, I am on board. :-)

You may be alone on this one Ms Lyons. Talented yes, star… no. Great supporting player, yes.

    I’m in. Adorable and talented.
    Love him.

  • molly

love him. I am definitely team adam.

  • Brian

I’m with the author. He’s great. Don’t forget his small but well-played role on Six Feet Under as the guy David Fisher dated briefly after breaking up (temporarily, obvs) with good old Keith.

I’ve always liked Adam Scott, but primarily because he looks just like a guy I had a major thing for!

  • John

That is soooo creepy. I just watched that episode of Veronica Mars yesterday. That was a good episode. I also liked that guy as J-Lo’s gay BFFL in Monster In Law. In other words, I agree. Let’s make him famous.

I’m a fan! I love “Party Down”, and I even remember him as the cute guy from “The Matador”.

I agree with every part of this article. Have for quite a while now. TEAM Adam Scott!

I’ve loved him ever since he was Mr. Rooks on Veronica Mars. A teacher impregnating one of his his high school students never looked so good.

the dude rocks and we absolutely need to make him a household name…talented and good looking. Im in!!

  • Carli

I’m definitely in. I think Adam’s hilarious (Step Brothers, Party Down), but also pulls off the dramatic stuff (Tell Me You Love Me).

I’ve been watching Party Down on Netflix, and I am in love with Adam Scott. Like full-on, I-want-to-have-his-babies love. He’s hilarious (dude can improv like nobody’s business) and poignant (all those scenes with Lizzy Caplan in Party Down just make my life, like Jim/Pam in The Office, pre-engagement ring) and just amazing.
And on a related sidenote, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new pilot for HBO keeps getting better and better with each casting scoop. I’m ready for that girl to act her butt off in a non-Buffy way (those crying scenes where Buff’s mom died in season 5…go SMG! Those were top-notch).
