'Harper's Island': Was it seriously 'debauch'?

There are plenty of reasons I’ll probably keep up with CBS’ Harper’s Island — creepy little Madison who grills snails with a magnifying glass, random non-red herring birds crashing into pretty people’s cocktail glasses, and the shocking visual of a Half-Off Harry Hamlin, for starters. But the following triumph in abbrev’ed vocab is so lame-slash-awesome, I can’t stop playing it for everyone who stops by for Reese’s Eggs! Presenting…Mr. Debauch.

I hope this guy doesn’t die next, because he needs to present at least one silly slang word per week. Maybe he’s the one orchestrating the murders. That would be seriously debauch, you guys. What about you — will you be sticking around for the rest of Harper’s Island, especially since it’ll only last an easy 13 episodes?

Listen a little more closely – he says ‘Seriously debauched’. Too bad – I like ‘debauch’.

I think he does say “debauched” he just has bad enunciation. I love this actor on Eureka though, so it would not be unlike him to come up with awesome slang anyway.

Teen son and I watched. Wasn’t too bad and had enough murder and gore to bring us back next week. btw – I think the creepy little girl is the killer. ;o)

    Arrrrgh. Wishful thinking :(

half-off harry hamlin (lol, annie)…didn’t think he’d go the first frickin’ episode! although, now that i think about it, it’s a copycat of drew barrymore getting offed right away in ‘scream’.
    i think it’s the sheriff.

Yeah he definitely said ‘debauched’. Which means this entire blog post is pointless. Except that I did quite enjoy the episode. Although it’s worrying that, while the drama side of things tootled along nicely, the moments of suspense were actually a bit boring…I don’t know if years of being hardened by Japanese horror have left me immune to the joys of slasher flick terror. I will admit, though, that ‘lower half hanging below broken bridge ruthlessly hacked off’ was a pretty classy way to bow out.

Gorham who plays Henry in this and Ugly Betty is hot of course, but the silly bonde haired rich gals are annoying and are there just for the kill haha … really bad show though.. Poor Gorham deserves better.

Total crap. I’ll be back next week.

Harper’s was SO good last night! So happy I tuned in! Heard they have a really cool online show too called Harper’s Globe…

Dumb show, bad acting, bad dialogue. Oh yeah, I’m watching again. Wonderful guilty pleasure! haha. It’s craptastic!!! I say that with love :-)

CBS should be fined for gross misuse of Harry Hamlin! Wtf? I was pissed.
I’ll be back next week though.

  • Tricia

I’ll watch them all because now I want to know who is the murderer and why he or she is killing these people. Wish Hamlin’s exit would have waited a few more weeks!

  • Kristy

YES!! Loved it, i can’t wait for more!!

  • CandyMaize

Debauch / Debauched … either way, I enjoyed the premiere and do plan to watch the series in its entirety.
Btw, even if HE didn’t say ‘debauch’ .. I still like it and it just means that YOU can claim it as your own slang invention!!

They messed me up choppin’ up Uncle Marty (Harry Hamlin) at the end of the episode. I so wasn’t prepared for that, but I’m definitely watching the entire 13 episodes. This show is right up my alley of weird, sick shows.
