'300' sequel: Zack Snyder says he's up for it...but are you?

Filed under: Movies and tagged: ,

300_lDirector Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) said earlier this week that he’d be up for making a sequel to 300. Well, it wouldn’t quite be a sequel. According to Snyder, Frank Miller is developing a graphic-novel followup to 300 that’ll take place in between the moment Leonidas (Gerard Butler) dies and the Platea battle one year later (in which 10,000 Spartans defeat the Persians). During this time period, there’s also the battle of Salamis, in which Athens’ navy also fights the Persians — jeez, those guys keep getting picked on!

Snyder hasn’t yet boarded the project, which has been in development for nearly a year. "If Frank comes up with a great idea and draws something cool, there’s no reason why we wouldn’t make another movie," he said. But what do you think, PopWatchers? Men, are you thirsty for additional bloodshed? Ladies, ready to ogle more CGI-enhanced abs? Or, after Watchmen, are we not quite as enthusiastic for what Snyder may have in store for us?

Really, John, you had to boil it down to, “Want blood, men?” “Want men’s bodies, ladies?” Really?

I would rather see a sequel to his Dawn of the Dead.

Sweetness…..I would watch Zack Snyder make anything….he could probably make a romantic comedy starring old naked people and i would be down.

After Watchmen, I am even MOE enthusiastic about anything Snyder Directs. Watchmen was damn near a masterpiece of a movie. It’s a shame it was too complex for general audiences. It’ll definately become a huge cult hit int ime though.

    Not me. Once was enough.

If you are going to turn actual events, historical figures and their self sacrifice into cartoon-line Hollywood theatrics, I think it would be better to just let it be……I still cannot stand sitting through more than 5 minutes of 300 even if Gerard Butler is impressive…yes, I am of Greek descent.

All depends what it looks like really and if it doesn’t seem like too much of a cash cow.
Honestly, I watched “300″ for the 3rd time Saturday night! Gave the old Blu-ray a 2nd spin (once in theaters). Great flick. “Watchmen” is good but graphic novels, especially one so layered just isn’t for everybody

  • yep

    **** you
stop hating on watchmen its a good movie. 300 was good. dawn of the dead was fantastic. he’s a good director, especially with comic to movie transitions. id be down with a new 300 movie but only if frank miller’s book is any good. theres no use in adapting a bad comic

  • Onno

Hell YEAH and after that make the movie of 10.000 spartans on a rampage who gives a crap if it is not completely historical correct 300 rules and Watchmen seen in 2 times in theater and it rules all those haters should shut their mouthes it’s a good movie so yeah I’ll say come up with the new 300 by Zack

Er, the Greeks/Sparatans weren’t picking on the Persians, it was sefl-defense lol
As for Snyder…meh. He needs to broaden his range, enough with the kewl slow motion actions shots, please. And Watchmen was a disappointment.

300 was OK, but it was all flashy visuals and not much story. Plus I hated how everytime a spear was thrust in the air it made a weird metal-on-metal sounds. Plus I wonder what kind of money the studio will give Snyder after what happened with Watchmen?

As long as someone screams “THIS… IS… ATHENS!” in this one, I’m game.

  • Nick Clad

I thought watchmen was really good.
    It was better than “300.”
