I love your behind the scenes. You show us how the contestants behave and love to see that Kris and Allison are just as cute and sincere as they appear on TV.
I can tell by seeing their photos and watching them on TV that they are really cool peeps.
Thanks for the article.
Lady GaGa “reinvent herself!” Come on, what make you say that? Actually, I’m not a fan of Lady GaGa, but I must say her vocal & performance on Idol were awesome!
Seriously, how long are you going to be doing this segment, because it seems like you have absolutely nothing good to say about AI. I am sorry that you have at attend the taping of America’st most popular show every week, but could you at least try not to sour us all with your cynical take on the whole thing. We are aware of the cheesy factor of the whole show, but still we enjoy it, so have a little respect for the fans who read this trying to get a little more perspective. If I wanted someone complaining about every minute of the broadcast I would watch the show with my husband.
I’ve been thinking about that opening quote–”It’s fine being artistic, just not on this show.”–since yesterday, when Camp GaGa sent out official word that she was canceling her D.C. concerts because of a last-minute Idol appearance. I don’t want to read about the legitimacy of GaGa’s “art” anymore, or any further proclamations of how her tour is to bring joy to her fans. She just committed the cardinal sin of any cult pop music artist: screwing over your fans to appear on a tacky reality show. There’s an anti-GaGa backlash happening in D.C. guystyle.net has more info.
The difference between Lady Gaga and Megan is that Lady Gaga can sing and has some kind of style and presence, whereas Megan has no talent, no presence or style, and absolutely cannot string two decent notes together.
Lady GaGa was awful. I don’t really know who was worse…GaGa or Megan doing Marley…both bored me to death!
Whitney: Do you really think that the impersonations by the contestants was an honest, unstaged moment? That was as phony, contrived and planned as anything else on that show.
I say mostly A. She was happy to go, crying in relief at the chance of seeing her son, I think.
Whatever people might think of Lady GaGa, I have to say that that performance pushed me over the edge to total fandom. The most delirious excesses of 80s performance art and pop music are alive and well and living in Lady GaGa! How tedious and dull the contestants — and David Cook — seemed in comparison. Not even Adam could turn up the bat-guano crazy dial that high. Oh, for just a few seconds of that kind of creative anarchy from one of the contestants next week. Is that so much to ask, Whitney?
Lady What-Ever: HORRENDOUS. The same people who thought she was “brilliant” are probably the same losers who think Russell Brand is the funniest thing since Benny Hill.
Megan Joy: Good riddance. What was all the mugging? Talk about telling the audience you didn’t want to be there. Well you got your wish, babe, see ya. And while you’re at it, go get more tattoos on your face. You apparently don’t have enough of them.
The only moments were watching last night were the ones were Cook was on stage (even if pre-taped), despite his tired voice and his so-so song (why not release Lie, stupid record company?!). He is so earnest and sincere and cute and, dammit, talented and NOT cocky. Sigh. And when he was presented with the platinum album (which I already knew was coming), I cheered, as did his sparkling mom, while Cook cried.
The results show is a complete waste of time, I like Lady GawGaw’s single but not her stage performance (c’mon, Adam, don’t go THAT far, please, she is bizarro plus), and all I can think of while the show is on is what the singers will choose the following week.
Thanks for the recap, Whitney. And too bad Cat didn’t sub for Ryan. I LOVE her. I am already stoked for SYTYCD.
I think Megan’s behavior was kind of disrespectful last night. I don’t think she is doing herself any favors behaving that way. I think the reason she acted like a fool and cried so much at then end is because she really did care….A LOT!
Wow I don’t get all the Megan love from Whitney… Megan is a pretty girl, but she cannot sing, period and never should have made the top 13. Lady GaGa on the other hand, is majorly talented, even if you don’t get her, lol. (I remember her performance on either DWTS or SYTYCD and wondered what the heck was that snowcone thingie on her glasses that she kept holding a light up to? But no matter, she can sing, dance, and act an amazing stage show!
Lady GaGa wasn’t that bad considering she is really a Man or should i say Transsexual. Danny the Dork is the worst and should have been voted off long ago. MJ has had a bad rap from the judges from the beginning and didn’t deserve the abuse the judges have giving her from the start. The pimping of Danny the dork is so obvious it will make up puke. If you want to stay on Idol then pimp the dead wife . MJ if the daddy to you kid was dead then you would still be on Idol
Whitney, I love you…seriously…may have to take up stalking someday. I never used to get the Lady GaGa thing. Then, one of my spin instructors started playing her music towards the end of the hour of ass kicking, and it would energize me. I bought her CD and found I really like her music. She gets me through a lot of ghastly workouts. I’m lazy – so Whitney, you really don’t have to worry about me stalking you…Lady GaGa is unique, which is exactly what the music industry needs – more ARTISTRY. I will speed vote for Allison next week. David Cook looked & sounded whipped (love him though). My favorite Whitney quote this week, “Adam was once again trying to keep flames from flying out of his ass as he partied on one side of the stage”…awesomeness!
