This has to be the most hypocritical article written. You are saying the show needs to be fixed, but EW.com will not even write a recap for it anymore?! Hello…the show is only the highest rated show on the CW! This episode was quite good. I havn’t seen this much cat fighting since Season 1 with the religious wars.
Since there are various versions of Top Model all around the world, how about rotating hosts for an entire cycle. Having Giselle or Claudia Schiffer host for a year would give the models a fresh perspective.
Miss Jay is a reasonably good runway coach. S/he’s worthless on panel, though. Mr. Jay actually sees them during photo shoots and can offer a more informed critique. There’s some debate over whether or not he has favourites, and about how he’d edited, so it’s tough to tell how much he would affect the show if he were on panel, but he’s at least better than Miss Jay. A squirrel would be better than Miss Jay.
I basically pee my pants when I watch this show. It’s hysterical! I can only imagine how giddy Tyra and Co get when they come up with ridiculous things for the model wannabes to do each week.
To the people who like Make Me A Supermodel: I watch both shows, and I still love Tyra’s show more.
Make Me A Supermodel is idiotic and takes people with zero chance at ever becoming a model. Tyson is wooden in tone, always the same monotone, and is REALLY full of himself. He always looks the same and has NO variety. Tyson is boring.
Now for Tyra’s show. I agree that Miss Jay is a great runway coach, but she is horrible at judge’s panel and should be removed. Her big bowtie does not cut it.
Paulina should be allowed to mentor and work with the girls behind-the-scenes. She would be fabulous at this. They should allow her to teach the girls new things every week.
Mr. Jay can keep his spot ONLY if he starts (a) giving the girls constructive advice and (b) showing them how to put his advice into practice. He should stop the shoot and give some pointers rather than continue to moan away as shots are fired.
Why is it that Mr. Jay’s preferences and photos never seem to translate to judge’s table? I agree with much of what he says. Yet the photos he points out, and the ones we see as they are being photographed, are usually not the ones we see. He clearly has an eye for photography. He didn’t like the girl being photographed in the yellow paint as she was smiling continuously. He was frustrated with her shoot. Yet the judges pick the one photo of her not smiling and declare it a genious photo. I don’t understand choices like these.
I agree it would be fun to let the girls pick their own shots, but I don’t want this. The reason is, the girls are incompetent enough as models, much less as photography editors.
I love Tyra; I just do. But the girls need more guidance, more real guidance. And they need to pick higher quality contestants! Most of the contestants this cycle are lame.
I love watching this show. Michael’s suggestion #2 is a very good idea. So is bringing Nole Marin back to judges’ panel. I thoroughly enjoyed the latest catfight between Celia and Tahlia’s bodyguards. Can Tahlia win this cycle?
Right now it looks like Fo has the best chance(’cause she has the best face).
I like the suggestions given. I really think a new cycle with all the past runner ups and/or most popular girls from past cycles. That and all the suggestions given, I’d definitely watch again. Think about all the ego’s and I’d just love to see really competetive challenges. You know they would come back for a second chance in a heartbeat.
I love ANTM, but I have to agree that some of their decisions do not make sense. Tyra got mad at Celia for standing up & telling on Tahlia, but yet when someone made a comment to Tyra that Yoanna had an eating disorder on season 2, she didn’t say “well, she needs to tell me that herself!” Sometimes it is hard to tell what the judges really want. About Mr. Jay, his hair is SILVER, what does he know about fashion?? I think that Janice had good ideas of who can be a model & she judged very brutally, which was good for tv! I think that some of their challenges and photoshoots should be a little more like what models REALLY do, like honestly who lights themselves in a photoshoot? Overall I just want to see a model come out of this who actually gets jobs afterwards and who can do swimsuit, runway, commercials, etc. Some of their choices for girls are not neccesarily TOP models because they are akward & unattractive, especially if a guy is the audience at times, then that just doesn’t work.
I agree Tyra is too full of herself the show is getting ridiculous. I hate the fact she kept Sandra so long after the bullying. Sandra was not a lovely person as Tyra said she was she was mean and keeping her around so long was promoting bullying. Not a good example to young girls at all.
This show has definitly lost its edge it is horrible.
What you all seem to be missing is that this show is a monster ratings hit. It won’t fold, and it won’t make any major changes unless the primaries want it to. Just the fact that you’re all logging in and posting about it proves that it’s still wildly popular.
I Couldn’t agree more. except on the Miss J thing. I like him/her. I strongggly agree for the part when the models choose their own fate. That’s a nice twist. It’s time to freshen up Top Model!
Dont.Have.Clay.Aiken.On. Clay Aiken judging anybody’s ACTING?!! He couldn’t act if his life depended on it. Honestly – what’s next – Roseanne Barr judging people singing “The National Anthem?”
