'Celebrity Apprentice' recap: Dennis Rodman, we hardly knew ye

Stars! They’re just like us. Except for the complete inability to complete normal household tasks, such as getting stains out of a carpet or putting sheets on a bed. PUTTING SHEETS ON A BED. Seriously. Last night’s Celebrity Apprentice followed the teams as they acted as concierge/room service/housekeeping in Manhattan’s Loews Regency hotel. While the women did things like ”get the stuff their guests wanted,” the men put Dennis Rodman in charge and he proceeded to get drunk and talk to guests about the great strip clubs in their hometowns. Good choice. In the words of Brian McKnight, ”He speaks in a language that not all of us understand.” Unsurprisingly, Dennis got the boot when the men lost.

Do you think he deserved to go? Which team’s hotel service did you prefer? Which was more entertaining, Brian McKnight’s lovely phone demeanor or Rodman’s woefully short attention span? Where was Khloe during the first day of the challenge? And which celebrity guest had the most outlandish requests, Stephen Baldwin or Vincent Pastore?

It was past time for Dennis to go. I love these working episodes much more than the ones where all they do is call their rich friends for donations. And can Melissa Rivers give any one a compliment without taking the credit? When asked about the project manager her answer was “It was my idea….”. Geesh, get over yourself! …and Joan “Dennis, you know I love you”….yeah, right…she would never be in his company if she had a choice!

The boardroom was very uncomfortable to watch but I have great respect for Jesse and the tone of his comments to Dennis. No one in the boardroom attacked Dennis but they all made it clear that they felt he had a problem that was interfering in his life. Joan was right. It was like an intervention.

I actually thought it was a really good idea Dennis had to go out to dinner with those two guys. If you are in NYC on a trip and looking to have a good time, what would make the trip more entertaining and memorable? Going out to dinner and partying with Rodman and McKnight, or having cookies in your room? Everyone on the men’s team should have spent more time entertaining the guests, and less time being the standard/boring hotel service.

Dennis Rodman should have been sent home on each challenge the men lost–and probably even when they won! Somehow I don’t think those comments about the female strippers won him any points with that hotel guest, and the two female guests were probably put off by the way he spoke about them.
I was glad the women won, because they seemed to be working a lot harder than the men. Did three of them really need to go pick up the cookies? Why wasn’t at least one more of them involved in the cleaning?
Stephen Baldwin seemed to be much easier to please than Vincent Pastore.
I did notice how Melissa Rivers took credit for choosing the project manager. I was almost hoping the women would lose, so we could see Melissa backtrack on that one.
My favorite part of the episode was when the guy was trying to get the “case of Chardonnay”–Acacia Chardonnay. If that had happened to me, I hope I would have had him spell it out, since I’ve never heard of it either.

I thought this show was cancelled. People still watch this?

Jesse was great in the boardroom. Dennis needed someone to call him on his outrageous behavior before it is too late. Unfortunately, I saw no indication from Dennis that he is willing to recognize his need for help. Good episode with a sad ending.

Wow, these Celebrity Apprentice recaps have gotten just pitiful in the past two weeks. This isn’t a RECAP, it’s an invitation to comment! Where’s the RECAP of the intervention of Dennis Rodman? What kind of english is a phrase in the RECAP like “he proceeded to could get drunk.” In a RECAP that is only fifteen (SERIOUSLY!?) “sentences”, two of which were one word long, you would think that the RECAPPER could get the language correct, and add a period at the end of all of the sentences.
I ask Entertainment Weekly, I beg EW.com, to PLEASE get us someone to RECAP this show who WATCHES THE SHOW! You’ve got excellent RECAP writers, like Jean Bentley (Biggest Loser), Michael Slezak (American Idol), Dalton Ross (Survivor), and Jeff Jensen (The excellent resource for LOST). PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get us a QUALITY Recap writer. Marc Bernadin isn’t busy, since Battlestar Galactica is off the air, recruit him, or just tell Jean Bentley to do the job right.

    Here’s a recap for you:

You know, some of these antics might be expected of the former NBA star, but when it came to the cookie situation, I went from being on the fence of comfort, to falling completely on my face, landing on the side of absolute uneasy queasy awkwardness! “You want some cookies?!!” “Here, you go. Cookies out the ass!” Oo oo, I want cookies, Mr. Rodman. But, um, weren’t they supposed to come on a platter with cheese and caviar?
Okay, okay, my one little joke aside, I did have a hard time watching cookie-gate. It wasn’t until the boardroom, that it all became very real and abundantly clear that we were dealing with an alcoholic on our hands. And Joan hit the nail on the head when she commented on how sad it was to hear Dennis defending his old sports career.
Yes, Dennis was fired, and I can only hope that when he actually watches himself back on these episodes, he might get the help he needs.

I must say that I loved this episode too. I love that they got to see the flip-side of the service industry. It’s not a glorious job, but truly essential in every aspect of our lives.
The 2 major highlights of the task were:
    1) Melissa had to clean the messiest room, and
    2) Jesse’s comment ‘I de-pubed the toilet’ was absolutely priceless.
    That was the fun part.
Now for the sad part. To see Dennis unwilling to step up, admit to alcohol issues, and continually cling to his past successes is truly sad. I loved Jesse James before this task from all the years of Monster Garage and the various other shows, but the work ethic and truly ‘principled’ way he went about spear-heading a near intervention last night was incredible. I saw that Jesse was choking back tears, so this was no joke for him and was truly heartfelt.
This show had it all and will go down as one of my favourites of all season.

I enjoyed the apprentaince last night. I am glad the ladies won they did a fantastic job. I think the guys would of did the same if Dennis would of stayed out the bar lol. He was a complete mess, Hopefully he will see himself in this and go get some help. Its sad seeing some one you know as a famous basketball player know as a famous cranberry and vodka crazie. Well I will just keep him in my prayers and continue watching my favorite show the apprentaince

This is not a recap, it’s a commentary… and very brief and silly one at that. It seems like it was written by a twelve-year-old. And most of the information in this “recap” would be confusing and useless if I had not already watched the show. I guess if I miss an episode, I’ll know better than to come here to try to catch up on anything!

Seriously, once again, I am a freelance writer looking for work. Seeing someone get paid to write something like this drives me insane. Had I been writing with a broken crayon in the dark it would have been more decipherable. EW, hire me!!

They shouldn’t have let Dennis go. That was the first episode that was actually entertaining. Yeah, he got loaded, but he was hilarious. I loved the part where he just left with the guests and had dinner with them. Did you see how excited they were the next day? Jesse James is a bit of a drama queen (and he’s also weirdly robotic). Does Dennis have a drinking problem or did he just get drunk? Even when he was drunk, he was still getting more done than these other fools. Getting rid of Dennis means this show is going to get very, very boring again.
