Let’s see: a well-acted and superbly written sci-fi mystery show that challenges its audience vs. an over-produced version of high school musical with average talent and fake controversies? C’mon.

This is like comparing a diamond with a CZ. No reality show could ever be as good as Lost. Most scripted shows pale in comparison. I don’t judge people for watching AI, but to compare it to Lost is insulting.

I watch both shows. Watch Idol and tape Lost. Geez..am I the only one left in the world with a VCR? BTW…I hated Slumdog. Yeah…I said it..Hated it.

  • David

well I cannot watch more then 5 minutes of american idol without changing the channel and screaming at the torture I just saw were as I’ve seen every episode of lost.

in my opinion there is no point debating since lost is superior to anything else on tv. however, i watch idol too. there is no reason you can’t enjoy both unless you decide to waste your time turning into the pointless results show wednesday night. watch idol tuesday, lost wednesday, no issue.

I watch both!! I watch Lost and DVR Idol. I find that it makes more sense to watch Lost at its actual time slot, so that when I watch Idol I can fast forward all of the nonsense.

Dalton Ross dancing = Best Thing Ever! I’m going to need you and Josh to do that every week on Survivor Talk.
I hate to admit that i love both AI and Lost. But Lost wins, i can always watch AI on youtube the next day without all the boring chatter from seacrest and the judges.

I don’t watch AI although I pay attention to the blogs. LOST is the best show on tv!!

Wait, this is a debate? Seriously? You’re not messing with anyone here?
Because I’m pretty sure that anyone with an IQ over 70 would tell you that LOST > American Idol. I know that’s not saying much for my fellow Americans, but seriously guys, a show devoted to sometimes pretty unknowns singing awful covers of songs that weren’t great to begin with? I could tune into any top 100 radio station to be equally unentertained, with the added bonus of not hearing Simon Cowell.
That’s the show you’re stacking up against something that has changed the scope of television for the better, all the while challenging my thinking and devoting me to more lifelike characters than some real people I know. You see why I don’t understand how this is a debate, right?

  • Dee

Is there even a question here? LOST!!

  • Amy Leigh

I Tivo both Lost and AI, but if I couldn’t then Lost would trump AI every time.

  • Lost Fan

Lost is the best show on TV and there will never be another show like it.

Because there’s only one functioning TV in the apartment – I have to watch Idol and wait to see Lost on my own time because there’s no way my roommates would want to sit through it for my sake. I would normally like to watch Idol after because I could cut out a lot more thanks to fast-forward.

  • BeckyB

LOST – definitely! The amount of unwatchable filler they cram into an hour of AI ensures it a spot on my Tivo – I NEVER watch it live! Start it a half an hour late, and FF through all their painful attempts to waste my life.

  • Brian_izzle

why is this even a topic ….Lost is the best show on t.v period….it beats every other scripted show by a large margin ….so to put it up with Idol is insulting ….no contest, Lost owns …
