I was an avid AI watcher.. but no more. Based off just the principle of it.. lip syncing is not valid performing.. sorry.

I have noticed that past couple of weeks that the group performances on American Idol are lip-synched and I can’t believe it! I always looked forward to the group performances because they are pretty entertaining and at times hilarious but lip-synching is just wrong! I have watched American Idol ever since it started and don’t think they’ve ever done this in the past. They better get it together or else the show could get canceled! I don’t like the 4th judge or the lip-synching! The judges same is an interesting twist though.

I am very dissapointed with AI. Part of the appeal is that it is LIVE. I think having the contestants lipsync and the pre-recording of performances such as David Cook’s takes away from the show.

Force them to sing, that’s what they’re there for. That whole “pre-recorded” BS is killin’ me.

Maybe they are using pre-recorded vocals this year because of the blind guy.. Could be that its too difficult for him to keep up with choreography plus sing. Just a thought.

I thought this was suppose to be the “best” group of singers ever? If they are the best than they can do the group numbers live just as season 1-7 idols did. I like the group numbers when they pick good songs. Singing Katy Perry was kind of scary as a group number. LOL I would rather the producers cut down on the dance movements and just hear their voices. It gives us a chance to see how they perform with other singers.

im pretty upset with this dumb dumb lipsynching thing. ok so theyre too busy dancing omg. every season before them has done group numbers and theyve done fine!! i dont get what the big fuss is about ALL THE OTHER SEASONS DID IT. the show is about finding a great singer LIVE NOT LIPSYNCED its just teaching them that lipsyncing is ok and its ok for them to do it later on in their careers.. for the few that have them

this is somewhat off topic for AI, but i think having themes every week is actually stupid, because not everyone will sing good for whatever theme it is.us i think AI should just get rid of themes and let the contestants sing what they feel like singing to keep themselves for another week.us

I agree that the lip-synching is ok as, for these contestants, to be eliminated stumbling (or being tripped?!) during a group number that really doesn’t address one’s ability to Sing/Perform as the American Idol SHOULD be able to do would be unfortunate. I also enjoy watching the medleys they put together and the (agreed, overly cutesy) charm of the numbers themselves. Have I given myself away as an over 50 watcher?
