As someone who has practiced the Transcendental Meditation technique for over 36 years, I say: Hooray for David Lynch! And it is not a religion. Nuns, rabbis, priests, and monks practice the technique with no conflict. And so do doctors, lawyers and a few Indian chiefs I met this weekend. It’s for everyone. When we hear the word cult, we say “huh?”
I love what Lynch is doing online, he seems to be having a great time reaching out directly to his fans.
Also I cannot recommend his book on TM and Creativity enough…it’s very simple and inspiring, and fans of his movies will love it.
I’m really impressed with the David Lynch Foundation. They seem to get the idea that we desperately need to change our schools, and have found an easy and effective way to do it. And this concert is a perfect way to get the word out. What a lineup! Great work!!
That’s great, David. Good move for humanity. I hope you finally get ‘Ronnie Rocket’ made!
My children have been practicing Transcendental Meditation for several years now, and they have grown into mentally clear, emotionally grounded, and just overall happy people. Both of them tend to make good decisions, especially as they are moving through the teenage years. Transcendental Meditation is one of the best investments my husband and I could have made in our children’s future.
Thanks to H.G for the heads up (enclosed) regarding John Knapp. This greedy guy is obviously trying to cash in on Lynch’s good work to reduce stress in the classroon, and thereby improve society from within.

“regarding the post below by john knapp – since he is using this forum to attack dlf and to promote his services, it seems only fair to point out here that john knapp is a well known internet troll for his “counseling” services – that he makes his living targeting non-mainstream programs and organizations and then trying to convince people that they are actually involved in a “cult”, so that they will pay him to help them get out of their “cultish” dependencies – and there probably are some weak-minded people who more easily get overly involved with (and cultishly dependent upon) other people, organizations, diets, etc”.
Though I’ve received mixed reviews about the Foundation itself, I know first hand that meditation in general has had an incredible impact in my life.
The benefits of meditation I have received have been so many that I now publish information about meditation and its benefits online. I created http://www.mymeditationgarden.com to make information about meditation accessible in an easy to read manner. My goal is to share the benefits of practcing meditation with other Americans.
I’ve always been a fan of David Lynch’s bold creativity, but I am an avid supporter of the the David Lynch Foundation. I have spoken to several people who have been involved with the DLF at schools and they have amazing success stories to tell.
Watching the once promising -long rich and decades stale Lynch engaged in still more humdrum 70′s
art-school self-indulgence is the
viral nowhere event of 2009!
How long are the circle-jerks going
to let themselves be basted with
‘enlightenment’ by people who’ve
yet to shed their contrived, shallow and boring ‘self-images’?
