I hate that you’re all over these postings. Go away, and take your pathetic website with you.

There’s a little bit of the school-marm in the verbage, but that’s okay. He’s a pro and has a great heart. If he doesn’t like that part of the lifestyle, he should feel free to tell people.

I think he has every right to ask fans to stop being so fanatic — if you watch his online vlog stuff, he seems to be pretty cool around people but I can imagine it is difficult to have that kind of laid-back fun if people are hounding him. I think a safe question to ask would be what did some person do to get into his hotel room etc.? If it is something he could be legitimately concerned about, more power to him.

I think he’s rightly frightened! If he’s already making himself accessible to fans by signing autographs and meeting them, what’s the point of those same fans to continue stalking him? Actually, I did hear that there are some that have been following his every move and having very inappropriate signs for him (not suitable for kids!). Some may say he’s being unappreciative, but you never know when an obsessive fan goes too far.

I say good for him. He has been nothing but accommodating to his fans, so for him to feel the need to say something shows that people overstepped their bounds. Why anyone in their right mind would think it was okay to look for an artists hotel room or try to call them blows my mind. Common sense, people!

Until you’ve had people following you, stalking you, trying to find your hotel room, etc. you don’t get an opinion! Everyone has a right to some privacy – entertainer or not. I think it’s great that David is setting some limits. I believe he made it clear that he appreciates his fans and their support but he’s drawing a line in the sand. Good for you David!!!!

it’s completely understandable. he shouldn’t have to deal w psycho fans calling his hotel- good for him to just make this statement and try to move on from this.

David is nothing but a really great guy who has a few crazy fans and got in all this really fast. I thought his whole blog was nice, although you only posted part. It seems he has a good relationship with his fans and wants to keep it that way, but for that to work everyone needs to help.
I just read he’s donating the money he makes with his merch to charity. He’s a mench! Hope the crazy fans get the message and give him some privacy.

  • OMFG

I “condemn” your messageboard behavior Brandon101. Seriously, who talks that way?

  • Liana

He seems nothing but a nice guy who respects his fans. If he was unappreciative he just wouldn’t even write a blog. He’d stop meeting his fans, like most artists those. The fact that he wants to keep a relationship with them just show how much he appreciates the support.

I dont blame him one bit. Attaching a GPS to the bus is crossing the line. You know, lots of celebrities have been killed by over ambitious fans. Think about that. Kudos to cook.

The kind of disturbed fans you’re talking about are not going to respond to a sternly-worded lecture about appropriate fan behavior and boundaries. In fact, any security expert would advise him that what he did is more likely to spur any real nutjobs on, because they’re getting a reaction and validation from their object of fixation. The way it was worded also has the unfortunate side-effect of making it sound like he’s talking down to his fans. He can remain accessible to his fans and accept the consequences, if that’s what he’s all about as an artist, or he beefs up his security and gets serious about protecting his and his bandmates privacy. IMO, that finger-wagging lecture was not the way to go.

Don’t worry David! Your 15 minutes are almost up!

  • Lee

I think DC handled this situation with class which why he will follow in Kelly Clarkson’s footsteps and will be around for years to come. He is talented and never forgets it his fans that gives him a career.
he thanks his fans and knows they like being accessable to him. but he sees the begining of some craziness and says he wants to nip in bud and asks certain fans to please not to be so aggressive so that he does not have to keep a big disantce from him and his fans… class act all the way.

This wasn’t adressed to all fans as I read it. Just a few out of control ones that were ruining it for everyone else. I think he made the plea for the safety of not only his band but the normal fans at the concert who were getting pushed around by the ones who were stalking him and acting entitled. I was stalked by a crazy guy in high school and that kind attention isn’t flattering or as David put it healthy, so I don’t blame him for trying to head it off before it went too far.
