We’re down to 10 contestants on American Idol‘s eighth season, and while Alexis Grace is inexplicably not among them (AGGGHHHH!), that doesn’t mean there aren’t some things to look forward to during Wednesday night’s Motown-themed performance episode. (Yep, President Obama, who clearly didn’t get the memo that Tuesday night is Idol night, is pre-empting the show for the second time this season!)
Anyhow, Kristen Baldwin and I took a break from our vacation to discuss the prospect of rising stars Matt Giraud, Kris Allen, and Anoop Desai, while our beloved producer Jason Averett cobbled together five vital reasons to vote for the marvelous Allison Iraheta. Love the Idolatry videos. Kristen, you are one very funny woman. Keep it up.
Anywho, I’m all for Anoop this coming Wednesday (!). I can’t for the life of me figure out what song he should sing. *shrugs* Oh well. But this theme is up his alley.
I don’t care much for Kris. But Matt has great potential. Too bad he gets on my last nerve. Something’s off with him. Adam. Oh, Adam. What song are you gonna emo-fied come Wed? Can’t wait to see Berry & Smokey’s reaction when meeting Adam for the 1st time. Even though, I think it’s gonna be the same reaction when everyone sees Smokey up close for the 1st time. Not a pretty sight. Lil’ is overrated. Scott & Matt are just taking up space. And Danny? Stop screaming. Thx. Allison may be the dark horse here cuz she does have some soulfulness somewhere in that raspy voice of hers.
is it possible to have a top 5 free from sob stories? kris – married, matt – dueling piano player, allison – teenager, adam – ….is adam, and anoop – college student (i put anoop in because he didn’t really mention his friend when we first saw him)?
Wednesday should prove to be an interesting show. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Anoop and Matt pull out of the bag. Kris is a nice guy and gave a great performance last week, but his voice is just pleasant and not dynamic enough, with a thin upper register and wonky falsetto, so I’m interested to see what he does with the Motown theme. I couldn’t care less what Danny does since I dislike him so much. Sarver is just flat out boring, and even if he has a great week I can’t see myself caring much. Lill will be interesting to watch and see if she shines or crashes and burns. Adam will do his usual OTT thing, and it’ll be interesting whatever the song. I’ve got faith in Anoop to knock it out of the part this week, though.
I really hope Allison shines this week. And, as long as Anoop doesn’t have another “Beat It” disaster, he should be fine. Kris will get through on his cuteness no matter what he sings, but Matt’s gotta get rid of that zit in the middle of his forehead. It’s time for Scott and the Oil Rigger to go! Miss Alexis!

I think Kris will do great. He has named Motown among his musical influences, and I don’t think we’ve yet seen everything he has to offer. I’m also confident Matt will give another solid performance. It’s Anoop that worries me. I’m imagining another manic performance from him! Scary!
I was listening to Motown records yesterday and think Allison has a great voice for a Marvelettes song, like “Please Mr. Postman”.
anoop and amtt are gonna shine hopefully because its their genre if they pick the right songs, im curious to see see what alisson and adam sing because its completly out of their comfort zone
Just Going to Watch the show for Adam Lambert’s performance. Probably everybody is.
Hmm….Motown has been done to death, but it helps line the coffers of Berry Gordy and Smokey….Allison is the dark horse, she’s the star. Even tho the men dominate, I can imagine Allison coming from behind.
i expect the souls ingers to do well but i hope alison delievers a showstopper because her performances have been good but not outstanding
I’m hoping these ppl knock out the park because this is right up their alley. Anoop, Matt and Lil. Not a big fan of Lil but she should do well this week cause if she doesnt her fan base is gonna go down. I shall repeat my top 4-5 ppl because thats who i like…not necessarily cause thats how it will play out

another thing, i loved this week’s idolatry! it was sooo funny. i luv how each time u mention danny you show the pelvic thrust clip!! LOL i luv when u mention kara you show the monkey n the cymbals LOLOL hehehe i had a good laugh thanks!
