He’s contributed to some great movies, Milk & Pineapple Express…if you go to UCLA, like i do. you would know half of the student body either fits in the “i smoke alot of pot” group or “im gay.” group..we should be excited that we have him speaking at graduation, the student body has so much in common with him and the roles he plays.
i don’t know why they’re being so obnoxious. he went to the same school they did, which means he should be competent enough to give an acceptable speech. besides, it’s not like their tuition is paying for this. there really is no need to feel cheated.
I am a UCLA fine arts graduate this year and James Franco will be my commencement speaker. I’m sure he’ll give good commencement (funny, maybe a little charming, whatever) but I think it might have been more appropriate to have someone who’s had a long life of experience. I admire Franco’s work and I’ve got mad respect for his academic achievements I just would’ve preferred someone incapable of attracting the kind of aggravated post-pubescent attention necessary to create a worthless little snippet/article on entertainment weekly online. Film school gets Oliver Stone. Geez…c’mon.. That’s a whole nother level.
