Bobb'e J. Thompson: Give this kid his own show!

Bobbejthompson_lUsually, I can’t stand precocious children in movies or sitcoms. You know, the ones that pop into a scene and obnoxiously deliver a line that’s unnaturally funny for a child their age. (I’m looking at you, any child to ever appear in a CBS sitcom!) But I turned a new leaf last night during the young Bobb’e J. Thompson’s cameo on 30 Rock as Tracy Jr. (brother to George Foreman). Now, I loved the kid during Role Models — he practically stole the entire movie — but his hysterical blink-and-you-missed-it appearance on last night’s show proved he’s the funniest kid to break out in Hollywood since Spanky McFarland. Seriously, Thompson held his own against Alec Baldwin! And he looks great in a suit! Even though Thompson has some movies lined up, I’m a selfish person: I want to see the kid nab his own TV show so he can grace my TV screen each week. Who’s with me? Who thinks Thompson deserves his own series?

Personally, I just want to see a “30 Rock” recap again. Who’s with me? Or is the 56th reality show this year more deserving??

I think he deserves better parents. That may be a little rough, but after having watched Role Models I was shocked at what all the adults around this actor allowed him to say, do and witness. It was ridiculous and unsettling. And to top it off, the movie itself seemed to completely condone the entire sexist and foul mouthed attitude. I understand the comedy of it in the beginning of the film, but to carry it out all the way to the end of the movie w/ lessons of how to boob watch and w/o any character realization of “oh, you know I don’t think kids should be cussing and calling women p*ssies” is ridiculous. The kid is talented, no doubt. And I wish I’d caught him on 30Rock, but I can only imagine what the adults surrounding him are letting him get into right now.

I would definitely watch a show with him. He stole the show last night AND went up against Alec Baldwin. Classic!

This kid also ROCKED on Human Giant!

I’m trying to remember if he was Tracy’s kid before, in that episode where Tracy thought his kids were going to kill him…but it didn’t matter. When Bobb’e was on the screen, I was transfixed. The kid was comedy gold! (Plus, last night’s 30 Rock, written by Tina Fey, one of my new favorites, possibly my favorite of this whole season. So together and flowing and AWESOME!)

    i would watch!!

Didn’t he play one of Tracy’s sons on his sitcom? The kid playing George didn’t look like the other son to me – that I could remember – but that would’ve cracked me up even more.
“Do you want to see what he packed me for lunch?!”

  • actingup

He did have his own show – he previously played Tracy Jordan’s son on “The Tracy Jordan Show”. I remember all the reviews – the only positive thing I remember being mentioned was Bobbe (I refuse to put in that ridiculous apostrophe).

I liked the kid in Role Models, not so much on 30 Rock. It didn’t really fit with the tone of the show.
As for a weekly TV show, hell no! That act would wear thin really fast.

he was hilarious! and i can’t believe i completely forgot that Tracy Morgan had his own self-titled show on NBC in which he played a normal person! (sort of a doting dad/ Huxtable type guy). wow, time flies.

I’m getting slightly off topic in addressing YP’s comments about “Role Models” but I think the whole point of “Role Models” and it might show me to be out of touch or an idiot, but they let the kids be themselves because in a few years reality would encroach and crush their dreams, they’d be like Rudd and Wheeler in due time. Until then enjoy the boobs and all the geeky role playing stuff– they needed validation more than they needed anything else. That’s what they got.
That being said, Bobb’e J Thompson is a bad ass. He’s probably got nice parents, I bet they drive him to his auditions, some people just love them some potty mouth.

Yep, he did play Tracy Morgan’s youngest son on the short lived Tracy Morgan show. He’s very good and very funny. I think he’s be great in his own Nickelodeon or Disney show. He’s not ready for prime time TV yet….at least I don’t think. I think it would ruin him and put too much pressure on him.
