Stringer Bell vs. Michael Scott. Fight!
Idris Elba starts his six-episode Scranton stint tonight as "the new boss," taking on the job Jan and Ryan both had — which, of course, gives him a special place in Michael’s heart. You can watch two preview clips here, which look fantastic, and get extra-pumped by following Elba on Twitter. (You’re following us, too, right?)
Here’s a Web-only extra from last week’s "Golden Ticket" episode:
You know what time it is, PopWatchers. What say you about Elba’s guest gig? Will he always be Stringer Bell to you, or can you see him winning a Dundie?

Stringer Bell in the office : awesome !
I’ve seen him in several throw-away roles since Stringer Bell. The first that comes to mind was Hilary Swank’s partner in “The Reaping.” I don’t think he’ll ever do anything as good as Stringer. I can’t recall having seen him do any comedy though. I could maybe see how that would work, but I’m hesitant to get excited quite yet.
Yo String!
I haven’t watched The Office since the end of season 1, but this will definitely get me to tune in.
I. Cannot. Wait.
Whenever I see a character from The Wire on a show/movie I can only think about who they were on the show. The show and actors were too good to really be replicated elsewhere
If I wasn’t already a fan of the show I would be one starting tonight! Idris!!
I haven’t really kept up with the Office lately but this has me excited. I miss The Wire

The Wire was the greatest show in television history. Nothing will ever compare to it.
But this is pretty cool, having Stringer Bell on The Office. I’m psyched.
I never watched a minute of The Wire. I know I know. Sorry. Geez. looking forward to seeing the dynamic of Michael and him though.
I see those business classes he was taking during his free time paid off for Stringer.
Good to have such an excellent actor on my favorite show.
I also meant to say that Amy Ryan (a fellow “Wire” alum) was TERRIFIC on “The Office.” If Elba is half as good, it should be a success.
London boy in a UK-sourced comedy. Looking forward to it
