As a huge Family Guy fan, I was surprised to hear last year that Seth MacFarlane chose to develop a spin-off starring Cleveland, the Griffin family’s slow-talking neighbor. Now, I love to see the guy pop in and out of scenes to deliver his deadpan punchlines — and he certainly boasts plenty of baggage for episode fodder, what with his love problems — but I felt like Cleveland’s measured method of talking would prove tiresome, especially since MacFarlane has found so much success with his patented rapid-fire writing and editing.
Of course, that was all before I found out today that Kanye West and Taraji P. Henson would be lending their voices to an episode of The Cleveland Show set to air in 2010. Any show that casts Henson in any capacity has promise in my opinion (memo to Hollywood: give the girl some more work!). Plus, I’ll tune into any program that features the oh-so-rare sight of Kanye West poking fun at himself (in this case, he’ll be voicing a rapper named Kenny West). And though I don’t find West to be as fun or obscure a cameo as, say, Quahog’s other West — that’s mayor Adam West for the uninitiated — the prospect of him coming back for more than one episode certainly makes Cleveland stronger (heh) in my eyes. What do you think, PopWatchers? Will you watch Cleveland now? Is this why Seth MacFarlane placed No. 1 on our list of the 25 smartest people in TV?

I have been in love with Cleveland ever since he got Meg the 3rd season of Sister Sister on DVD. But Kanye. I would love to dip him in honey and drop him off at a Bee Zoo. His too cool for school swagger is tired.

Gosh Dave, Melinda, et al, if you don’t care for either Family Guy or Kanye West, how did you manage to even find this article, let alone bother to voice your disapproval of the spin-off? Sure, you’re free to say whatever you’d like, but why waste your time complaining about things you don’t even like in the first place?
In other news, I think Kanye West in small doses with the right amount of self depreciation would be good for The Cleveland Show.
How’d I find the article? It was a very tricky process; I did it by reading the PopWatch blog. Why did I respond? Because the question was asked, “Will you watch Cleveland now?” Silly me, I assumed that Kate asking that question meant that she wanted answers.
As for wasting my time “complaining” about things I don’t like, it’s my time, isn’t it? If every post in a thread all espoused the same point of view, that would be pretty boring.
I would have watched, but with Kanye West attached… I’ll pass on that.

I was gonna watch The Cleveland show anyway. I am glad they recruited Taraji and Kanye though to lend their voices to the project.
I don’t think I care enough about Cleveland to watch an entire show about him. Brian, on the other hand…Also, I think Kanye’s involvment makes me less likely to watch. I seriously can stand that guy. I say this, but I’ll probably at least give the pilot a shot.

Seth is is a certified comedic genius in the realm of TV animation and Kanye is not only a pop icon, but 1 of the only true ARTIST that has came along in this generation. I.E. The real Kenny West lives in Ocala Florida and Kanye has been ripping him off for the last five years. If he tries to ruin his name, he is in for a serious battle and believe me, thousands of people already know the truth.

I was looking forward to the new Cleveland show and logged on looking for more details. I was not happy to read that Kanye West will be doing a voice appearance. His behaviour lately has been atrocious and his most recent stunt at the VMA’s show that he has no respect for anyone.
If I were Seth MacFarlane…I’d rethink allowing Kayne on the show in any capacity. There are many who will avoid the show on principle alone if he keeps Kayne.
This is one time where the viewers are speaking and I find myself hoping that the producer is listening.

Kanye West is horrible. And Cleveland is just as bad. I never once thought he was funny. The only characters I ever enjoyed on family guy were Stewie and Brian.
I will watch this show just to see how it is. I don’t care who’s in it. I love Family Guy very much. I will give it a shot
