America has not advanced in their manner of thinking. Europeans have a more progressive kind of thinking…sexuality, religion, race, creed is not an issue in a talent competition. Americans please grow up!!

Sorry, but it matters. I think they need to keep the show the way it is. Just like I don’t want to hear the salacious details of any hetero’s sex life, I SURE don’t want to know about someone’s homo life. I firmly agree that this is a singing competition, and that needs to be the primary focus of the show – whether or not each contestant can or cannot sing. Period. Whether or not a contestant “comes out” after the show is their affair. It doesn’t need to be the focus while on the show, but then sex orientation becomes very hard to ignore when a sense of “which way does he roll” sexually is flaunted on a weekly basis.

i wouldnt be affected at all by it
after all it is a singing competition and sexuality shouldnt matter
if the contestant wants/ doesnt mind having their sexuality be put out there then fine it is th his/ her choice they shouldnt have to hide it

It’s ridiculous that Idol should be concerned with a contestant’s sexual orientation. Last season’s Danny Noriega is out and proud. I think they should include their significant others in their bios and video intros. Most reality shows have openly gay contestants anyway.

I’m not sure how they can justify keeping the gag order on Adam with the idea that Idol is a ‘family friendly show’ after having Flo Rida on last night singing about oral sex and being pawed over by a half naked backup performer. That was family friendly?

If they don’t see it on Family Friendly television. They’ll see it somewhere else. It’s ridiculous they treat homosexuality the same way as swearing, or blood and violence on tv :S

Why does “family friendly” have to mean gay-free and pro-Christian? I’d rather live in an honest world. Certainly, we don’t have to go into the gory details on American Idol about anyone’s sexuality and what it physically entails, but quite frankly, they should be more concerned about showcasing so many young single mothers (aka, sluts) than anyone gay.
