Another chapter in Joaquin Phoenix’s car crash of a rap career and/or prank-ish Andy Kaufman-style art project was written last night. While performing at a Miami Beach club the heavily bearded Walk the Line star became upset at an audience member and jumped off the stage. The ensuing mayhem can be witnessed below. Footage was also, once again, captured by Casey Affleck who has been documenting Phoenix’s unlikely new musical career, leading many to conclude that the whole thing is some sort of elaborate practical joke. Popwatchers, what do you think? Is Phoenix the new Biggie Smalls? Or the new Borat? Or neither?

I hope this is an elaborate hoax. I get a little sad thinking that he might be on the same path to self-destruction that his brother went down.

Not only is it “Joaquin, what the heck are you doing?” but it is also “Casey, what the heck are you doing?”. Seriously, what the heck? I hope its a hoax, but I still don’t really see the point if it is.

Regarding the story, it seems fishy that footage recorded by Affleck is always ending up on Youtube, and only the controversial parts. You’d think they would want to hide this kind of behavior if his rap career was legit. Seems like a hoax to me, but its interesting to watch.
This guy’s making a film…nothing more, nothing less.

Actually, his real name is Joaquin. Leaf (or Leif) was his stage name as a child. He picked that name since all his siblings had nature-related names. He was born in a Latinate country and apparently his folks liked the name Joaquin. Personally, I think he’s prepping for a role or making a satire with Affleck.
If this is an upcoming movie can I say it’s going to be the lamest movie ever/
