What happens when Ricky Gervais goes on Sesame Street? Something amazing, it seems. These outtakes from the comedy genius’ duet with Elmo are destined for the viral video hall of fame. And as fantastic as Gervais is here, this only works because Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash completely rolls with it. My favorite is when Elmo giggles into his hands at 1:19. [via Buzzfeed]

Thank you for this. Really funny. I like how quick Elmo is on his “feet”
Brilliant! Coworkers wondering what’s so funny. Not sure if I’ll show the kids, but very funny.
Ricky’s laugh is perfect for Sesame Street. i’m sure kids will love it.
I saw this earlier today and just watched it again. Too cute!!
Ladies & Gentlemen … I give you the new Crosby & Hope. I’d watch their Road Movies!!!
Oh man. This is so insanely adorable. Whoever came up with Elmo 40 years ago is a straight up GENIUS. Ricky Gervais ain’t half bad, either.
Also for UK Office fans – I saw news that Gervais might be returning for an ep of the US Office. Blogged about it here: http://squareeyes.blinkx.com/?p=433
Oh man that is wonderful! Anything involving Elmo makes me feel happy inside but that was great. From Gervais’ series of children’s books, it’s clear he knows that what kid’s like most is saying things that are a bit naughty. Whatever the interview itself comes out as, I’m sure it will be great.
I love ANY chance to see more Ricky Gervais–he’s absolutely fantastic. To see him with my favorite Muppet is such a treat. Kudos to Kevin Clash for keeping up with Gervais’ excellent wit.
That was too much fun! I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time – thanks for brightening my day!
“Where did you lose this interview?” Classic.
Aww best thing I’ve seen all day! Love it.
That is so clearly the funniest thing I’m going to see all week. And that includes watching my 6 year old playing baseball. I’m going to be giggling about that all day….
Well, that was a wonderful antidote to a crappy day. Thank you very much, I can’t wait to see Ricky on Sesame Street for real, it will be better than Will Arnett doing magic.
Ricky is hilarious, and I love the part about not talking about the Holocaust. Elmo is hilarious too. I absolutely love when Ricky really laughs. He has the best laugh ever.
Keeping up with Gervais’ wit is hard enough, but doing it while your hand is up a puppet’s heinie is tougher still. Mr. Clash deserves an Emmy. Ricky is right up there with Robin Williams in his prime (so long ago, I know).
