Minka Kelly, Jason Dohring cast in the CW pilot 'Body Politic' (Double entendre?)

Dohringkelly_lOnly on The CW could you potentially have a series called Body Politic, and have it not be about the newly appointed Attorney General (Tim Matheson). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Friday Night Lights‘ Minka Kelly has been cast as his daughter Hope, who leaves Michigan following her mother’s death, finds her long-lost dad in D.C., and begins working for him. Jason Dohring (of Veronica Mars, Moonlight, and PopWatch Duel fame) will play a reporter with The Washington Post. Our nation’s capital hasn’t looked this sexy since Hollywood invaded for Obama’s inauguration the 2000 WB series D.C., starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Jacinda Barrett, and Daniel Sunjata.

Friday Night Lights fans, breathe. Kelly would be able to return for multiple episodes of that series should it get the fourth season order that Michael Ausiello says is in the works

Man, I love pilot season. It’s like Christmas…you just don’t know which of your favorite actors will get cast. I happen to love Minka Kelly on FNL even though I know a lot of people feel she’s a weak link so this is made of win.

  • Jen

So, I guess Lila will become less important on Friday Night Lights, since the news so far has been that FNL will likely be renewed.
But I’m all for anything that brings Jason Dohring back to my tv screen.

So with you on Pilot season. They need to make it a holiday or something. I am getting giddy with excitement.

  • Alia

Looks promising! I hope this doesn’t keep Dohring from participating in a potential VM movie, though.

ok so the subject seems to be interesting but the network CW is not a quality factor (remember veronica mars cancelation ! and responsable of beverly hills, melrose place ’s return : crap girlie shows ! and continue other crap like one tree hill !)
So the lead is Minka kelly..hum she is just the friday night lights’s weak in term of acting.
But the most important : Jason Dohring is a really interesting actor, the guy can act. He is as good as Kristen Bell in VM…(see the 2nd season, you will see) So I think it’s deserved that she is becoming a movie star but he ? He stays in a CW show ??
I don’t get it, at least he could play a lead in a major network show (abc, cbs, nbc hello !) or he could be in a hbo, showtime show (why no longer washingtonienne ?!).
He remind me of ryan gosling, ed norton type of acting and charisma and they are movie actors so…hollywood it’s time to wake up and make the good choices for new break out stars in MOVIES !!

  • Luisa

I hope this is a good show. Jason deserves as much. He’s a fantastic actor–always the best one on VM (sorry, Kristen Bell).

  • Lindsay

Thank God someone finally had the brains to hand Jason Dohring a pilot! Now, here’s hoping The CW doesn’t crap it out like they do with every other show not starring Upper East Siders!

Though I still miss that snarky Josef on Moonlight, it will be so nice to see Jason again. I only wish him the best and hope this pilot works out for him. He is a wonderful actor and deserves much success.
