'Twilight' poll: Dakota Fanning is Jane, who should be Alec?

Dakotafanning_lNow that Dakota Fanning’s casting as vampire Jane in the Twilight sequel New Moon is official, we can resume our discussion about who should be cast as her bloodsucker brother Alec in a manner so serious that the PopWatcher who posts as "Sgt. Hatred" will be forced to once again comment, "This article, fans of this series and any others involved in it are the cancer that is killing worthwhile entertainment." Keep in mind that actors can play younger than their age, dye their hair, and survive a Disney career — and vote in our reader-generated poll below.

I’m just kind of over it all as far as who’s going to be cast anymore. I guess I need to read the book again, but the Voltari weren’t that huge a part of the whole story that I can’t stomach Fanning. I thought the second story was more about Bella & Jacob – that’s what I’m anxious to see.

Thomas Sangster would be flippin perfect! How could you have left him off the list?

  • M

Why is Tom Felton’s name there? How would he do Twilight and he as Harry Potter at the moment, the 2 films are filming at the same time.

  • Ick

Just no High School Musical people, please.

  • Heather

I think it is kind of pointless us voting because the movie has already been cast.

  • Michelle

Umm…not all the parts have been cast yet. Including Alec.

  • KP

    TOO MANY OPTIONS!!!
Also, I love love love Twilight- I’ve been a fan of the books for over two years now and I thought the movie (though cheesy) was fairly true to the spirit of the books…
But I swear, if they cast a HSM person I will refuse to see the film. I don’t care how small the role is, Disney does not belong in Twilight.

Oh man, Culkin would be great. He can bring the spooky cherubic menace that the role demands.
Even though I don’t like the books or the movies, I’d be interested in seeing the Culkin scenes.

elijah wood is like 30 years old

  • Lewa

I don’t see the option that says “Stop obsessing over Twilight, EW”

  • Carrie

I like Tom Felton. He does evil well.
Chris, At least Elijah is old enough. Dakota is just a child and if the powers that be for New Moon were keeping with the book than she should not have been cast, as vampire children are forbidden.

PLEASE not Lucas Grabeel! Honestly, I don’t have anything against him, and I don’t dislike him just because he’s in High School Musical, but he doesn’t fit the part!
He’s too old, and Alec needs to look younger, around Dakota’s age.
Alec and Jane ARE twins after all.

    Becky,
We added Thomas Sangster for you. (He did receive a few noms in the earlier post.)

  • Sara

I agree. Thomas Sangster is perfect now that he’s grown up a bit. And he kind of looks like Dakota too.

  • RJ Cullen

There is absolutly no way any disney actor can be in Twilight. no true fan would be happy about that! disney just doesnt belong in Twilight it is a totally different kind of acting!!! Justin Chatwin or Jermey Sumpter would be to best I think
