Don’t worry, that sound of buzzing and crying isn’t a bad thing: It’s just another reality workplace series about tattoos! A&E has spun off Inked into Tattoo Highway, which follows Thomas Pendelton and his wife Monica as they tour the country in a mobile tattoo parlor. By our count, this is the fourth ink-linked reality show, along with Miami Ink and LA Ink, both of which are better than their A&E counterpart. Still, Miami and LA suffer from the same problem of thinking the most interesting people on the shows are the regulars — instead of recognizing that the most interesting stories are always about the people getting tattooed. Here’s hoping Highway manages to be less contrived than its predecessors.
Speaking of tattoos, Mattel has unveiled a new Totally Stylin’ Tattoos Barbie (pictured), which I now want incredibly badly. (If Naomi Campbell can have tattoos, certainly America’s Next Top Doll can….) She comes with 40 doll-sized tats that kids can apply themselves, plus a fake tattoo gun and temporary tattoos for the tikes themselves. I’m pretty sure this means tattoos’ transition into the mainstream is officially complete.

just FYI… miami ink is no longer on the air. the “boys” closed the shop and it’s kinda hard to film a show around a store that no longer exists.
The Miami Ink shop still exists actually. They just opened a bigger shop a few doors down. But they are still in business, with the same artists. They are just not doing the TV show anymore.
