With regard to the Horace/Olivia Relationship, I believe that the characters were married. If you watch the scene where we’re introduced to them in “The man behind the curtain”, you can see them both wearing wedding rings. You could argue them being married to different people, though the timing means it’s still too early for Horace to be with Amy at this point. i think at this stage we were supposed to believe them to be together. I think the introduction of Amy was purely due to the actress playing Olivia, Samantha Mathis, not wishing to return to LOST. Still, it would be interesting to see if they bring this into the show, and whether they do explain Horace and Olivia’s relationship.
I was talking with someone that watches Lost at work and they pointed out to me that when Locke was shot and laying in the ditch or when he revisted it that there was a Dharma guy named LaFleur in there. I think I remember that.
If that’s true then maybe it’s a past affecting the future, circular unavoidable thing, which would be lame. Hopefully, it’s different and the Oceanic 6 coming back will somehow change the past/future. But it’d definitely be another little setup/easter egg that the writers put in there. That they knew there would be a LaFleur, etc.
In LaFleur, Sawyer told Juliet to stay on the island when she wanted to get on the sub because she would be going back to real-world 1974, but we find out at the end that’s not true because Kate, Jack, Hurley came from the present time in the real world and emerged in 1977 island time….so if 1974 Dharma people are leaving the island via the sub, then what time period are they going to in the real world?? They must be going to the 70s time period because they haven’t gone to get young Ben yet but how does that work with Kate and Jack and Hurley just happening to come from the present to 1977. I wonder if that’s a slip on the writer’s part or if now young Ben does not come to the island. Maybe because they’ve altered things, he’s never been to the island before and that’s why he can come back. Maybe his mother didn’t die this time and he was telling the truth on the plane when he said she taught him to read.
Kate, Jack, Hurley and crew didn’t take the sub to the island-the island “brought” them there from the Ajira flight. This is why they ended up in a different time period than they started in. Since it was theoretically the island’s doing, it could bring them back to whatever time period it wanted. Juliet could very well take the sub back to 70′s mainland, if the island were to let her leave at all.
Craphole Island = Hotel in The Shining
Others/Dharma = unsettled ghosts
Ben/Widmore = Jack Torrence
Castaways = Danny Torrence
I think the survivors are the only thing the island could get to come and change the tragic cycle the island has been experiencing. Too much death and destruction for one sentient island to take.
chipper!
i was trying to remember the same thing. i don’t know if my mind is playing tricks on me, but i thought i saw a la fleur uniform in the mass grave as well. that would suck!
What about a leak/explosion of Jughead being the cause of the birthing problems on the Island? Radiation IS known to cause birth defects, stillbirths, etc.
do we need to account for traveling between dimensions as well as time?
are Rose, Bernhard and Faraday et all on the island but in different dimensions?

The infertility is a result of the “incident” Candle alluded to in “Orientation.” Faraday will cause it with whatever he does at the Orchid at the end of the season to bring the Left Behinders back up to the 21st century. When Juliet realizes this, there will be some obvious tension.
Anyone know the email address of Doc Jensen or how to obtain it. Thanks.
Only the Others are infertile. We’ve seen Claire, Rousseau, Sun (off the island) and Amy all have babies without a problem. I think the problem lies with the “Others” and not with the island.
Christian, Jack’s father is Jacob and was a drunk because he had been on the Island before and never went back (maybe he tried but never crashed again). He obviously flew to Australia once, and fathered Claire. Jack and then Aaron are the logical successors.
I wonder whether Juliet is considered an “Other”, a DI, or none of the above, as far as reproducing is concerned…
I think youre right Sam. I remember the corpse with the bullet hole in the head in the mass grave, and I’m pretty sure the name on the uniform said Lafleur.
Amy’s baby’s name is Ethan – Julia asked what they named the baby and Amy said Ethan.
