This post contains spoilers about last night’s America’s Best Dance Crew finale, so if you don’t want to know who won yet, stop reading…now.
I know ABCD had to fill an hour, but that was some tedious business right there*. The group dance numbers didn’t mesh quite right — and if I never have to see Fly Khicks shake it ever again, it’ll be too soon. It wasn’t until Beat Freaks and Quest Crew started dancing together, roughly three-quarters of the way into the episode, that I started getting pumped. And even though I’ve been pulling for Beat Freaks all season, I have to admit the recap made me reevaluate Quest Crew.
Still…I am bummed the fart out. I wanted the ladies to win (even more than I wanted Fanny Pack to win last season; epic sigh), and I think if their awesome robotic routine had been on the final episode rather than the penultimate, they might have. Instead, Quest threw down last week with that cuh-raaazy piano routine, which was outta control amazing, and I think that sealed the deal. To Quest’s credit, they’re incredible, and they definitely deserve the win. I just thought Beat Freaks deserved it more.
What about you, PopWatchers? Whose dance moves dazzled and delighted? Is it just me, or would a best-of installment of this show, featuring select teams from all three seasons, totally rule? And how do you cope without weekly installments of Lil Mama’s wisdom?

Love the Beat Freaks but Quest has killed it all season long and definitely deserved the win. Their hip hip decathalon performance was amazing and every performance they did was great. When they were recapping the Beat Freaks I found myself going, “Oh yeah, I forgot about that routine.” When they were recapping Quest it was mostly, “I remember that one, that was awesome.”
I actually lost interest in this season a few episodes ago. I mean, they were good dancers, obviously, but I just wasn’t as pumped as I was last season. Then again, I also had my heart broken by last season’s 3rd-place finish for Fanny Pack (ROBBED!) I was hoping for Beat Freaks, too, so I’m a little sad they didn’t win it, but at least they got closer than the last one.
I totally want a “best of” season- even a one-off special would do that had all the better crews. Beat Freaks are amazing, but you have to admit, Quest SMASHED it.
Definitely Beat Freaks. There is no words to express the amount of cuss words that came out of my mouth. Or well, they were curse words. And I voted a lot too. Sigh. WTF.
I was all in for BeatFreaks until the decatholon performance. I still have yet to see last week’s episode, but Quest definitely had them up one going into the semifinal episode. AND I WANTED FANNY PACK TO WIN TOO! although supercrew was dope.
honestly I could do without lil Mama’s wisdom. Occasionally, she says something that I agree with, but most of the time its like “lil mama, why are you even speaking right now?”
BEAT FREAK kick ass!
QC definitely deserved to win. I was going back and forth the entire season between those two crews – but last week’s performances killed it! It was over. I barely remembered the girls performance…but the guys was one of the best performance of the entire show.
Speaking of Fly Kicks, was anybody else shocked and disappointed that they were chosen of Striker’s All Star? I felt that those guys definitely deserved to be in the top three – they had once bad performance and then they were out? I think the show would have been better if the three best crew showed.
I’ll be honest- I haven’t watched ABDC since the season premiere. I meant to, but it just never happened. Can anyone tell me if Shane ever acknowledged that he’d worked with three members of Quest on SYTYCD? Hok and Dom are up there with my favorite dancers from that show, but I still thought it was hilarious that he completely avoided the topic.
I really liked Beat Freaks but Quest so ruled this season. And Hok is so freaking hot! I just love that boy!!
I LOVE QUEST CREW!!!! I also love Beat Freaks but not with as many exclamation points =) The Decathalon performance sealed the deal for me, it was AMAZING! The Piano routine was just icing on the cake. I watched as many repeats on MTV as I could just to see their decathalon again. They are disgustingly talented and creative and athletic and just seem like nice funny guys. And I have a crazy crush on D-Trix, I wish I was the Fly Khick who got to tackle him at the very end after he took his shirt off =P
Yeah, I didn’t watch this season after being very so-so about the season premiere. The SYTYCD connections lost me too. I think they might want to reevaluate the finals of ABDC, but I know I just sound like a sore loser. I would’ve loved it last season had SoReal Cru and Fanny Pak been in the final two, but maybe the final three can be voted on for the champs. It seems like it’s hard for any group who’s not all-male and semi-b-boy to win.
I can’t even say enough about how RIGHTEOUSLY PISSED I was that Quest won. Yes, they are amazing dancers and I loved them, but Beat Freaks DEFINITELY deserved it more. AAAARRGHHH!! Those girls were so good, this decision was a travesty. WTF is right.
my heart broke for beat freaks last night. granted, the right top 2 was in the finals. for me beat freaks was better all season long, except for last week. they were just, meh, while quest killed it. to think that beat freaks was the top vote getter and quest was in the bottom 2. it all came down to the final performances. i felt really bad, esp when i saw shorty’s face looking all excited before the winner was announced. you’re still a baller, shorty. keep spinning. boys always win. congrats to beat freaks for representing the women so well. we were thisclose ladies. if only the robotic dance was saved for the top 2 round. i mean it was a given that they would have gone through top 2 anyway, with fly khicks in the top 3. i’m so sad that i’m actually rambling…
i was glad to see that there was an all-female crew up there, but i think quest crew was better, technically. they were much more precise in their moves. the girls were awesome, except that sometimes they were just the tiniest bit out of sync in certain routines. you have to nail it everytime. either way, they were both worthy of being the top 2. no question about it.
Quest Crew totally deserved that win. I wanted Beat Freaks to be so much better, but they really just weren’t technically as good. I am all for women trying to do everything that men do, but when they tried to do some of the tricks, it just really didn’t come off well at all. I do agree that if they had done the robot dance, or even the floating ball dance on the finale, things might have been a little different. It is just too bad they were on the same season as QC. They would have easily taken the second season crown.
I would love to see a best of show! Beat Freaks, Jabbawokeez, QC, Super Crew, Break Sk8, etc! That would be awesome!
