If Jack is the Man of Science, and if John Locke is the Man of Faith, then I nominate Sawyer as Man of Heart. To hell with it: Can we just say he’s just the effin’ man?! Because in tonight’s Lost, he certainly was all that, plus a bag of Dharma chips. SPOILER ALERT!!!
The kind of dude all the boys want to be; the kind of hunk that allthe girls wanna get with — provided they’re cool with his newclean-shaven look. Stepping up as leader, savior, and super-coolboyfriend — and succeeding wildly at all three — Sawyer found himself bornagain in the Dharma Initiative past. He seemed perfectly at home, perfectly at ease, perfectly self-realized within the confines of thetrippy-hippy utopian commune. Making the ex-con the head of Dharmasecurity? Genius. Coupling him with fertility doc-turned-motor pool mechanicJuliet? Totally worked for me. Consider my membership in theSkater/SawKate/Kateyer ’shipper club resigned. But bliss is fleeting on Lost, and so, after giving us a moment where Sawyer telling Dharma’s troubleduber-nerd Horace Goodspeed that he could barely remember the face ofthe girl that got away, we got the moment the entire episode, if not theentire season, had been setting us up for. As Sawyer locked eyes withKate, newly returned to the Island, I heard Sawyer’s internal monologuesay “Oh, yeah. I, like, totally love you. Er, I mean, loved you. I mean: Crap!”(Meanwhile, back at the Dharma barracks, Juliet’s glass heart braceditself for a long, pinwheeling fall toward the cold, hard floor.) Ifthey gave Emmy nominations for long, meaningful gazes, Josh Hollowayshould start ironing his tuxedo T-shirt and best ripped jeans, becausehe’d be going to the ceremony.
Much more happened last night — including, yes, a peek at thebackside of the Four-Toed Statue. But was it REALLY the Four ToedStatue? And is it really as Egyptian as it looks? I’ll have somethoughts on this and more when my full "LaFleur" recap posts onThursday morning. Until then: TALK!

Good episode. But I want to know one thing: What is the statue? And also: now that I’ve seen Sawyer and Juliet together, I definately think that the Jack + Juliet and Sawyer + Kate are much better relationships. Bummer that it will be two weeks, but it looks like it will be another good episode.
Any guesses as to the boy born? Was it Carl?
sawyer=jacob? maybe? possibly? thoughts?
I really wonder how they are going to bridge the 34 years between 74′ and 2008, where Locke and Ben are…
I completely agree with you on the Sawyer/Juliet front. I have been a vocal and obsessive Sawyer/Kate ’shipper for four and a half seasons, and tonight I was completely converted. The scene with Juliet cooking Sawyer dinner was the most adorable thing I have ever seen! Let Kate and Jack spiral into their respective depressions together; I’m all for Sawyer and Juliet now.
Can anyone please find out what happened to Rose and Bernard? The last time we saw them was when they were running from the beach because of the fire arrows, right? Did they die then?
I really enjoyed this episode, you are right, Sawyer looked downright happy and more in his element than ever before. I dont want Kate back, booooo. I also really loved when Daniel saw young Charlotte. There were a lot of touching moments in this episode.
Adrienne, no one knows, but perhaps they are Adam & Eve…
what the heck is the docs email? impossible to find.
Anubis. Ancient Egyptian God of the dead…holding a huge version of Paul’s necklace…
ahh AMAZING episode.. cant digest everything right now but some thoughts on the statue, Doc J poses the question is it as Egyptian as it looks? Well, the statue had long hair.. anyone thinking its a statue of sawyer!! maybe to honor him for protecting the dharma.. or built by the others to honor him for keeping the truce between dharma and others???
What a great episode …Juliet/Sawyer definitely works, I’m tired of Kate ad her love mood swings …It sucks that now we gotta wait 2 weeks til the next episode ….Lost is awsome.
I cant help but feel this episode wasnt really that great. My main problem with it was it was way too self contained and it felt too much like a “Filler” episode. Whatever problem that was solved was a problem created within the episode. In a show with so many mysteries that need to solved that was not a good thing.
Honestly everything that occured in the hour could have been shortened to around 10 minutes (Sawyer speaking to Alpert>”3 years later”>Juliet helping pregnant woman>Sawyer speech to Horace about Kate>He sees Kate).
Then we would have had 50 minutes of something that actually had something to do with the series as a whole.
Another great episode, its hard to get a relationship like Sawyeret going during just 1 episode and not have it feel forced but they pulled it off perfectly.
Why is there no new episode next week? Also, good question about Rose and Bernard…

What a great episode and a great showcase for Josh/Sawyer. I couldn’t believe it when he went out and told Richard “Mr. Eyeliner” the truth. I’ve been hoping Sawyer and Juliet would get together.
Sorry, that’s JeffJensenEW@aol.com, not JeffJesnen.
im putting my money on the boy being ethan. it fits, ethan seems to be about 30-35. in the previous episodes with horace they never mention a son. so ethan probably got kidnapped at a young age or ran away. bottom line, i dont think were done with ethan and the pieces seem to fit here
ugh…poor Juliet. she can never catch a break. and she and Sawyer are so cute together. just a normal relationship with no hang-ups. if Sawyer falls for Kate again I’m going to be really annoyed. great episode. so funny.
well now they are on equal footing relationship wise. jack and kate had about 3years lived together and exchanged i love yous, now sawyer and juliet have had the same.
Wait, WHAT? When was the statue showed?? I totally missed that part! Someone please tell me when that happened so I can go back and look for it! Thanks!!!
@oshafir: does every ep have to be BAM BAM BAM all the time? i mean, that’s quite a lot to ask of a show, even a show as great as this one.
that said, i have to disagree. i really loved this ep! sawyer is quickly turning my heart to mush with just how seriously badass AND sweet he can be. and that’s saying something, bc he’s probably the first and only character so far to do that. he might even usurp ben as my favorite/most interesting character for a little while!
WHERE IS SUN>!>?Q?Q
i heart lost
The whole bridging the 34 years is going to be interesting. I have a feeling we`re also in for a lot of Sun and Jin heartbreak. How epic and depressing and awful would it be for them to reunite, when he is a sixty sor seventy something year old man
i said it last week, i will say it again. Josh Holloway should get an Emmy, he has been this seasons HERO. Oh my god, what a great performance in a great fracking episode. One of my top five favorites in the entire show’s history and i’ve seen them all.
No new episode because of Dancing.
My favorite line of the night was Sawyer’s comment about Richard’s eyeliner. I actually was glad, though not surprised, to see Sawyer hook up with Juliet.
Does anything else think Juliet is pregnant? She wore loose fitting clothing all episode (including a really flowy shirt that seemed to show a possible bump) and it looked like they were hiding her stomach when she was in bed with Sawyer. Just my theory…
Sawyer should be the focus of every episode! Yummy!!
