I’m one of the biggest disgusted-yet-devoted America’s Next Top Model fans around, and until a few days ago, I had NO CLUE that season, excuse me, cycle 12 premiered tonight — one week later than originally scheduled. As cycle 8’s Dionne would say, What the hay-ul? I miss being inundated by over-the-top promos of Tyra whipping her giant alien head to the camera! Ty-Ty’s not even in the recent promos, and the girls aren’t even in 3-D! It’s almost like they’re paper…DOLLS.
Who’s to blame for a stunned nation’s lack of awareness? The CW hasn’t aired a new episode of anything since about 1932, so I’d go with: The CW. Besides, the entire series has seemed so tired lately. Quick, someone wake up contestant Aminat (pictured, left) before 8.
The worst part about this situation is the self-loathing — the DVR’s also picking up Bravo’s season 2 premiere of Make Me a Supermodel at 10, and the thought "I’ll watch the modeling shows before Lost" just crossed my mind. I am HORRIFIED. As Slezak would say, I should be taken out back with a can of tuna.
Who’s watching Top Model tonight? We’ll post a recap tomorrow. I’m thinking a clip show of all Miss J, because does it even matter anymore? Don’t answer that.

I don’t see any problem with watching the model shows before Lost. Their like the b-movies. Lost is the main feature. In the same way that Smallville is my b-movie to the Supernatural main feature. It just teases out the suspense that little bit longer if you watch a slightly more rubbish but still diverting show before your favourite. No problem.
I was actually ready to give ujp, but Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s ex (Kortnie) is going to be on there. I have to watch for the NASCAR tie-in.
Isn’t this the show to cut down to the models that are already listed on the website? If so, I’ll skip it.
There are only 3 women who are over 21 or older. Is this the youngest cast yet? Does this mean lots of catfights?

I had no idea it was starting tonight! Serious lack of promotion! Of course, the only other thing I watch on that channel is “Supernatural” & that one hasn’t been new in a while, so I guess I just haven’t been watching the CW at all.
God, I’ve seen the ad for the new season about 100 times (I love that Lady Gaga song in it). I think I’ve even seen it on channels other than the CW. And didn’t EW report that ANTM was going to be delayed a week like a good month ago? P.S. I believe it’s a 2 hour premiere.
Wow. I missed it. Lots of good shows on last night – American Idol, Nip Tuck, Damages. Who cares about TOp Model these days. Tyra is becoming a characiture of herself. It’s like she’s always posing even when she’s trying to be casual.
And I hate her “whispering” type voice as she calls out finalists letting them know they are safe. She tries to be dramatic and oooh, edge of your seat, type thing, but it’s underdone and cheesy. Tyra is just an Oprah wannabe. I love her clips on “The Soup” on E! on Friday nights.
I just love all the crazy sh*t that they make the “ladies” do for the photo shoots. Cover their naked bodies in candy & ice cream, let tarantulas crawl on their shoulders, hang suspended 100 feet in the air… etc. It’s awful & awesome at the same time. Plus, Nigel Barker is HOT!

I hope this cycle the girls are more attractive. I know of at least 25-30 girls/women that are more attractive then the ones they usually pick to be on the show. Heck give me some professional hair and make up and some alterations on my photos and maybe I could win.
OMG! I was listening to the radio today in the car and i heard tonight was the premier!. i was stunned i didnt know before today, but thank gawd i heard it otherwise id be out tonight and miss it…
and ANTM is one of my fave shows <3

I used to be really in to Top Model and still love watching the reruns of the old seasons on Oxygen and Bravo, but for some reason I really can’t get into the last couple of seasons. It seems like I find myself saying “Tyra, really, you have gone too far this time” more and more. As a petite size female I have to admit I am excited for next season which for the first time requires the models to be under 5 foot 7. If I wasn’t in college I would be in line trying out. Anyway, Top Model will give my brain a break before the intenseness of Lost.
I’m just bummed that Idol and Model are on at the same time and I’m stuck in a college dorm without a DVR. How can you expect me to choose between Seacrest and Banks? Honestly.
But Lost is definitely the gormet main course to those appetizers. They simply allow my brain to relax before it has to kick into high gear and compose some more time & space rocket scientist theories.
Omg! It should be on now, and instead its supernatural!! Wtf?!?!?! This is making me really upset! I’ve looking forward to this for like 2 weeks now! I hope the same doesn’t happen to make me a super model!
I am watching this now, I do not care what anyone say Aminat should win and its only the beginning. She has a great personality and the looks. I am Sandra needs to go now! She is going to cause some serious problems. She does not play fair. She is already plotting. I feel its because she feels ugly inside and she is covering it up by pushing everyone else down.

Tyra i have some question one of then what do i need to do to be a model. You can do a show with teens ?. I want to be a model couse i know i can help more people too.
tyras first film shoot is about girls loosing there innocence, and its preempted with jay saying how important this is to tyra…..meanwhile in her competetion is Sandra, who intentionally walks into a fellow contestant not once but twice….and is still in the competetion to be americas next top model….so tyra??? is it real….this care and concern …or maybe its about the ratings……

I completely forgot until I saw a mention on another program a few minutes ago. There has been an AMAZING lack of promos. Kinda makes me wonder if ANTM is on it’s way out.

the girls are actually an interesting bunch this season. I love several already, but wish Sandra was eliminated over the “forgettable, epilepsy” chick.
Aside from the obvious issues, my problem has been the glowing disrespect of the very first ANTM winner Adrienne Curry. It is my understanding that there have been, shall we say, “differences of opinion” but she did, in fact, win. When you post all of the previous photos of past winners she should be included. Not some pic of an “also-ran” (tonight it was Elise’s picture). Please just suck it up and give her credit where credit is due.
