Stump, the 10-year-old Sussex Spaniel who’s now the oldest Best in Show winner in the history of the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, stopped by CBS’ The Early Show this morning to taunt viewers with his long, pillowy soft ears and his sweet, curmudgeonly mug. He seemed unfazed by dog show fanatic Harry Smith’s determination to get an answer to "What’s his deal?" Or by Julie Chen’s use of her special dog voice. Or by the show’s countdown clock to a live performance by Jessica Simpson. He does deserve a trophy.

'Survivor' alert: Jeff Probst yells at poor EW staffer
Jeff Probst is a busy man. The premiere of Survivor: Tocantins is a mere day away, which means he has to start blogging again for EW.com. But does that give him the right to berate yours truly just because I can’t figure out how to pronounce the name of his new season? The incident in question went down as Josh Wolk and I were discussing the return of EW.com’s Survivor Talk Internet show (which will be back with a special mystery guest as well as the first cast-off on Friday afternoon), and was all caught on camera. See for yourself below. Moral of the story: Don’t interrupt the man’s breakfast!
Quote of the Day: Citric Extraction Edition
"Squeeze me, baby, ’till the juice runs down my leg / The way you squeeze my lemon,I’m gonna fall right outta bed." — Led Zeppelin, "The Lemon Song" (the lyric can be traced back, however, to Robert Johnson’s "Traveling Riverside Blues")
'American Idol': This just in...Hollywood Week episode includes (gasp!) singing
That’s what I’m talkin’ about! I just did a quick scan of my notes from tonight’s one-hour episode of American Idol, and realized we heard actual real-life music coming out of the mouths of the following singers: Adam Lambert, Matt Giraud, Jamar Rogers, Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai, Jorge Nuñez, Scott McIntyre, Kendall Beard, Stevie Wright, Lil Rounds, Kristin McNamara, Mishavonna Henson, Tatiana Del Toro, Alexis Grace, Kenny Hoffpauer, Jasmine Murray, Nathaniel Marshall, Joanna Pacitti, Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Jackie Tohn, Arianna Afsar, Anne Marie Boskovich, Ju’not Joyner, Kaylan Loyd, Leneshe Young, Kai Kalama, Michael Sarver, and That Dude in the Headband and Shiny Shirt. That’s 29 vocal performances (or, to be more accurate, 27 snippets of musical performances) packed into an approximately 43-minute period. And while there’s plenty for me to kvetch about — Norman over Leneshe? What to the what-what? — I’ll cover all that (and Paula’s necklace!) in my full TV Watch recap, slated to publish sometime around 6 a.m. Wednesday. Until then, go directly to the comments section to discuss — but before you do, press play on our latest episode of Idolatry below. It’s got a little Tarzan, a little Deanna Brown, and a little "Single Ladies" tribute to boot.

iTunes celebrity playlists: Whose rocks and whose makes your eyes roll?
On Monday, iTunes released three new celebrity playlists, something they’ve been doing since 2003. Thanks to iTunes, now nobody has to live without knowing what Anderson Cooper’s listening to or why the employees of The Office like the music they do. And, as of Monday, we can judge check out the musical tastes of Matthew McConaughey, Chris Evans, and Demetri Martin.
Chris Evans
Playlist: "Over the Hills and Far Away" – Led Zeppelin; "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours" – Stevie Wonder; "Them Bones" – Alice in Chains; "Like Alcohol (A Hole the Size of Part 2)" – Nico Stai; "Juicy" – The Notorious B.I.G.; "Passing Me By" – The Pharcyde; "High and Dry" – Radiohead; "Whipping Post" – The Allman Brothers Band; "I Stay Away" – Alice in Chains; "Lovely Day" – Bill Withers; "September" – Earth, Wind & Fire; "Plush" – Stone Temple Pilots
Evans’ playlist is a mixed bag of genres (like his career) with a little hip-hop, a little soul, and a little Radiohead. It’s pretty cool that he’s got an indie underdog like Nico Stai next to The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy,” which Evans defends as “the best rap song ever.” My one bone to pick: He writes that Stone Temple Pilots is a band he could listen to all day. Well, Chris Evans, do it. I dare you to listen to them all day. And then not cut your ears off.
Demetri Martin
Playlist: "The King of Carrot Flowers, Pt. 1" – Neutral Milk Hotel; "Rainbow Sign" – Fruit Bats; "Is She Fiona" – The Gerbils; "Title and Registration" – Death Cab for Cutie; "Waste of Paint" – Bright Eyes; "Shape of My Heart" – Noah and the Whale; "Little Fury" – The Breeders; "Made from Tiny Boxes" – Flotation Toy Warning; "Lucky Number Nine" – The Moldy Peaches; "Put a Penny in the Slot" – Fionn Regan; "Lost Cause" – Beck; "We’ve been had" – The Walkmen; "You Broke My Heart" – Lavender Diamond; "A Hit" – Smog; "A.M. 180" – Grandaddy
Martin’s collection is a predictable reflection of the comedian’s indie lifestyle. From genre royalty Neutral Milk Hotel to the commercial hit “Lost Cause” by Beck, Martin’s choices give fans insight into his personal life even if his explanations don’t. He decided to use this space to make very literal, somewhat funny statements (probably to get you excited about his new show) rather than talk about music.
Michael Phelps: How can we leave him alone if press-hungry folks in South Carolina won't go away?
The latest in the curious case of a 23-year-old dude just doin’ his best to jumpstart a ferocious appetite: Eight people who partied with Michael Phelps have been arrested because one of them attempted to sell that damn bong on eBay. For ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS. It’s too bad this isn’t last night’s CSI: Miami and that Michael Phelps’ friends don’t have Diddy as a lawyer. Gah! How stoned would you have to be to pay $100k for someone else’s bong, man? And without the original brown-tinted water supply, some of whose molecules may or may not have vaporized themselves against Michael Phelps’ thirsty merman lips? Ewwwwwww. Dot com. Bad investment!
Hey, does anyone still care about this? Because unless Michael Phelps pops up on Yo Gabba Gabba to sing a song about sharing — all together, kids: "Puff…Puff…PASS! You did it! Yayyyyyyyyyy." — we’re just gonna stop. Really.
Snoop Dogg: King of all MTV media?
Tons of Snoop Dogg news today, all of it from a single press release sent out by MTV. Let’s take these one by one, shall we?
1. Dogg After Dark is joining your basic cable lineup next week. It’ll be "the only nightclub TV show hosted by you know who," Snoop assures us in that press release — which also casually mentions "raw interviews," "hilarious sketch-comedy segments," and "Snoop’s own in-house band, the Snoopadelics." As somebody who sorely misses Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, let me tell you, I am crushed that I will be stuck at the office and unable to catch the premiere next Tuesday night at 9.
2. MTV Games is preparing to introduce an unspecified number of Snoop hits to its Rock Band platform. Seems like a sorta weird fit, but hey, who doesn’t want the chance to karaoke-rap along to "Murder Was the Case"…or solo over it with a plastic guitar?
3. Snoop has left Geffen behind and plans to release his next album, Malice In Wonderland, directly through MTV later this year. This makes him the latest star to ditch the creaky major-label system in favor of an ambitious new model that may or may not work any better. All I know for sure is, Snoop had better make good on that title by featuring the Clipse’s fearsome Malice on a track that samples Stevie Wonder.
But how do you feel about watching Snoop’s new show / playing Snoop’s songs in a video game / listening to Snoop’s new album? Weigh in quickly, now, before MTV announces he’s writing an MTV Book and writing code for MTV.com.

Thom Yorke, 'Terminator'?
Radiohead’s publicist assures me that rumors of frontman Thom Yorke contributing music to McG’s movie Terminator Salvation are, yep, just rumors — something that everyone who’s at all familiar with the respective oeuvres of Thom Yorke and McG already knew. (Let’s just say Thom has never struck me as an action-packed popcorn flick kinda guy.) Now that that’s cleared up, though, can I play devil’s advocate for a second?
Some of Radiohead’s best work over the years has been tied to movies. They wrote the immortal "Exit Music (for a Film)" for the closing credits of 1996′s Romeo + Juliet, which also prominently featured their excellent B-side "Talk Show Host" (below). Ten years later, Yorke gave his new solo song "Black Swan" to A Scanner Darkly. And guitarist Jonny Greenwood penned the score for 2007′s There Will Be Blood — by far my favorite part of that film. Meanwhile, Yorke and Greenwood both participated in a handful of awesome Roxy Music covers for 1998′s Velvet Goldmine, while Greenwood and drummer Phil Selway played a song in a Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire outtake. I could go on like this for days!
McG’s Terminator reboot isn’t the most obvious next step for Yorke in that (mostly) arty procession, sure. But I’m a reasonably committed fan of the sci-fi franchise — even liked T3 — so I’ll probably end up seeing Salvation in theaters. It would sure make my day if my favorite avant-garde auteur had something to do with it. Never gonna happen, I know. And this pairing could have turned out to be totally weird and jarring. But am I the only one who thinks that it could, maybe, have been potentially kind of cool if this were more than just a rumor (which it’s not)?

Oscar fashion preview: White knots on the red carpet?
Could white knots — worn to support marriage rights for gays and lesbians — be the hot accessory at this year’s Oscars? The symbol showed up at the Grammys, on the lapels of Foo Fighter Dave Grohl and former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart, sparking speculation that it could take off at the Academy Awards on Feb. 22 — especially in the wake of recent outcries against California’s Proposition 8 from celebs like Drew Barrymore, Jack Black, and Brad Pitt.
It certainly isn’t hard to imagine the cast of Milk — including Best Actor nominee Sean Penn — jumping on board, along with gay-friendly celebs like Anne Hathaway and high-kicking host Hugh Jackman. Come to think of it, we wouldn’t be all too surprised if actress-cum-activist Sharon Stone showed up at the show wearing three white knots…and nothing else.
What do you think, PopWatchers? Will white knots take off? And should stars make political statements on the red carpet, or just fashion ones?
