It’s the darndest thing. Looks like American Idol judge Paula Abdul believes she was taken out of context in an interview in OK! Magazine, which quotes her as saying she doesn’t think adding fourth judge Kara DioGuardi was such a hot idea. (Random thought: Who was the first famous person to ever claim their quote was "taken out of context?") DioGuardi responded to the OK! article by telling Access Hollywood that "Paula has a right to her opinions, but I was disappointed by her comments." (Another random thought: Why is it always "disappointed?" Why can’t it ever be "pissed?") And now, in this saga’s latest installment, Abdul told Entertainment Tonight that no, actually, OK! got her wrong. She was referring to previous guest judges, NOT DioGuardi.
Here’s what OK! has on its website from the interview in question:
OK! MAGAZINE: What do you think about Kara DioGuardi coming in as a judge?
ABDUL: Karaand I have known each other for years and we get along great. But wetried four judges before and it doesn’t work. It takes up so much timefor each of us to give our opinion that it slows down the pace.
So, do you think OK! may have taken Abdul out of context? Or was she just being passive-aggressive Paula? Take our poll and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Completely passive agressive. And I should know.
Paula is only there for the ratings…Because apparently her previous star status has afforded her some sort of following (Ratings) and her mental instability on the show seems to also garner interest/controversy (More ratings).
For me, she remains a rambling mental patient
If EW starts doing gossip items like People(or this one) then I am going to cancel my subscription.
This crap is ridiculous. I agree that 4 judges does take up alot of time. Maybe try each time the contestants perform only 3 of the 4 judges get to speak. No where in Paula’s statement did she mention Kara in a negative aspect. This is just some stupid extensive story that is going to brew all season long. I do like that Paula and Kara/Kara and Simon have different opinions. I do beleive that Simon and Kara though have the most surreal comments.
Hey, I know. We can give the judges a half an hour a week, just to chat. In reality, it’ll only be 15 minutes around Coke and Ford ads. They can pontificate, argue, explain what kind of packages they really like, or even drunkenly mumble. Fox can run it on Friday or Saturday night-when no one’s watching! That way, if they want to go beyond their 13.2 seconds, they’re told, “tell it on Saturday night.”
I don’t understand why Kara was added, so far she’s adding nothing “fresh”. Unless she’s there to replace Paula who may/may not return after contract negotiations.
This my favourite “out of context” explanation since Shondra Rhimes tried to claim that James Pickens Jr.’s comments were taken “out of context”.
Paula’s always on valium, so no one should take anything she says seriously.
Simon said the same thing as Paula in an article this week. Where are the big headlines about Simon backstabbing Kara and Kara’s big reaction. Just tabloid spin.
Paula’s HOT!!! Kara’s Not. Who cares about the rest.
I think Simon and Paula meant it takes too much time for four judges to comment…and I agree… not meant to be a dis at Kara whatsoever. God is this high school?
I think she’s trying to cover up the whole situation.
Entertainment Weekly, I’m disappointed. Is this supposed to be desperation? Paula didn’t insult Kara in any way, yet Kara still makes a big deal out of it. Shame on Kara, Paula was doing the right thing.
You guys need to learn to read. Paula says she likes Kara. She also says it takes too long for four judges to talk.(which I agree with) She doesn’t say anything bad about Kara. People twist her meaning around and that is what taking something out of context mean. God it’s like you all have an IQ under 80.
I Like Paula, don’t like Kara, She needs to shut up and let some one else talk. She acts like she’s all that, I liked how Simon and Paula were all cozied up last night, teaming up against her, she’s the 4th wheel, she acts like it’s her show and she is the star. I can’t stand her, think back to how she treated Bikini Girl, it’s not like BG was a horrible singer, but Kara wasn’t gonna have any of it.
