Enter the Fray: And the award goes to...

Seanpennbachelor_lI may not have seen all of this year’s Oscar-nominated movies, but I did see all the films that won the in major categories (I just barely squeaked by with a 1:35 p.m. showing of Milk on Sunday afternoon). How did you fare in your quest to see as many Academy-approved movies as possible before the ceremony (if you even had one)? If you skipped the telecast altogether, it’s okay — Enter the Fray is here to help. Read on for the week’s most commented-on posts (spoiler alert: Our Oscar liveblog comes in at No. 1).

10. Another week, another intimate detail about Jeff Probst that we weren’t sure we wanted to know (dude’s into blindfolds).

9. Foodies converged upon Margaret Lyons’ Top Chef finale post to profess their like (or dislike) for Wednesday’s newly crowned season 5 champ.

8. After the impressive performances of bright-eyed teenagers Allison Iraheta and Mishavonna Henson on Wednesday’s American Idol semifinal show, Michael Slezak apologized for omitting them from this week’s Power List.

7. Speaking of that Power List, Matt Giraud topped it this week. That was before his baffling performance of ”Viva La Vida” — just sayin’.

6. I’m sure we can all agree with this statement from Adam B. Vary: There is absolutely no need for another movie based on the Hasbro board game Clue.

5. In case watching pretty people wearing pretty dresses walk down a red carpet wasn’t enough to hold your attention (but it’s so interesting!), EW added a little humor to the process with our Oscars pre-show liveblog.

4. Michael Slezak and Kristen Baldwin shared their frustration with Danny Gokey in the first half of this week’s Idolatry.

3. What did you think about Sunday night’s Hollywood love-fest (also known as the Academy Awards)? You shared your opinions here.

2. Chris Harrison assures us that although ”The Bachelor producers have scripted and are responsible for certain events: the first moon landing, the end of the cold war, Astro-turf, and the Internet (sorry, Al Gore, it was us), we are not responsible for, nor have we ever scripted, the ending of this show.”

1. Mandi Bierly and Thom Geier liveblogged all three-plus hours of the Oscar ceremony. Thanks to their hilarious commentary, I didn’t actually fall asleep during the ceremony.

Other than the more obscure categories (docs, shorts, and foreign), I saw all of the nominated movies except Defiance. Made the show a bit more exciting, even though it was still utterly predictable.

I saw all of the nominees except for Documentaries (watched Man on Wire though) and the Shorts and Foreign Language.

I just saw Six Foot Under’s Richard Jenkins in an understated beautiful movie “The Visitor” – very foreign film feel to it. If you’re a Netflix customer, you can watch instantly online. http://www.squidoo.com/oscars-winners-best-picture

i managed to see all the major movies (minus the visitor, the changling and frozen river) along with non-nominated movies i was expecting/hoping to see get more love (happy go lucky and revolutionary road)
so whenever someone makes fun of me for paying money to see something like bride wars i have plenty of great movie credibility stored in my back pocket.

I managed to see ‘Revolutionary Rd’ & ‘The Wrestler’ just before Sunday. I loved them both. I thought Winslet was better in ‘Revolutionary’ & her performance likely helped out her win for ‘The Reader.’ I wish there could have been a tie between Rourke & Penn cuz both were extraordinary. By the way, a lot of people are complaining about Springsteen’s snub for ‘The Wrestler,’ but I noticed the song wasn’t played til the end credits. Was it disqualified because of that? I remember reading the Academy changed the rules a couple years ago that songs played only in the end credits are ineligible for Best Song.

The only films I didn’t get to see were Frost/Nixon, Frozen River and Vicky Christina Barcelona.

    Biggest mistakes at the Oscars
    1) In Bruges should’ve won best ORIGINAL screenplay. First, of all it’s a better script than Milk and second Milk should hardly be considered an ORIGINAL screenplay when it’s an adaptation of someone’s life.
    2) Gran Torino should’ve won best picture (I know it wasn’t nominated)
    3) Mickey Rourke should’ve won best actor (it’s a shame that politics came into play and robbed Rourke of the best performance of the year).

I saw every single movie that was even mentioned because I am obsessed…

The only nominated feature length films I missed (and some were doozies):
    - The Reader
    - Vicky Christina Barcelona
    - The Duchess
    - Changeling
    - Frozen River
    - Bolt
    - Happy-Go-Lucky
    - Australia
    - Wanted
    - Defiance
I also missed all of the documentary features and foreign language films. Them, and of course, the shorts (except for Animated Short nominees Presto and Oktapodi).

    Biggest mistake of the Oscars
Not giving the make-up award to Dark Knight. Good Lord, those guys deserved it just on the basis of the Two-Face make-up.

  • Bustray

I saw all of the nominated movies this year, except for three of the foreign language films, four of the documentaries, the shorts, and The Duchess, Hellboy II, and Australia because I’m extremely obsessed
