Jonas Brothers: Enough with the boots, okay?

Jonasbrothersboots_lBy some miracle, even working here at EW, I’ve managed to stay clear of the tunes these brothers have turned out. I know as little about them as possible. I know they are spawns of Disney, I know they wear promise rings, and I heard that they are in fact biological brothers. (Joe Jonas, I think your mother may have had a brief encounter with the milkman, because I’m not seeing the resemblance.)

I can’t help but notice, though, that they have a unique fashion sense. I can appreciate people who want their fashion to speak to their personality; I find that mildly refreshing. However, after seeing the movie stills for their new 3-D flick, I’m going to have to suggest they replace their stylists. This boots-over-the-pants phenomenon is not a trend that should ever cross genders. Nutmeg Man, a.k.a. John Legend, couldn’t pull it off, either. Leave this particular trend for the horse jockeys and us women.

What do you think, do you appreciate the Jonas Brothers’ style for the most part? What other stars unique looks do you admire? Lady Gaga anyone?

Those not familiar with Colbert will wonder what the heck Nutmeg Man is a reference, too. Just saying.

    I think he looks HOT….yummy!

I don’t care for their music, but I really like their style. Too many celebrities dress safe, and these young boys are throwing in prints, bright colors, and dandy influences. I like the boots over pants but only when the color is similar like in this photo. Let them play and explore; maybe other teenage boys will start to think beyond the tee.

Michelle T (their stylist) rules, come on!
To be fair, Kevin is the only offender with the boots and I agree over-jeans is IFFY…he also needs to cut out the manheels (it seems he is trying to save face from being the oldest and not-the-tallest). Kevin Jonas: fans love you the way you are.
Nick is the most staid…he looks great but not exciting.
Joe, as in all things, is my favorite…love the way he can one minute be the most out there/dandyish and the most casual/normal/manly the next.
I love all of their styling. They miss the mark sometimes, but so it goes with risks and constant scrutiny – they will at least be memorable.
P.S. They’re not Disney spawn, they were a band before they signed there…just to add to your knowledge there. These guys deserve a break, they are not as mockable as the word wants ‘em to be.

Look, I don’t listen to these guys and they are a bit too young for my taste, but why all the snarkiness? So what if they show up on Disney channel? So what if they wear promise rings? I suppose not everyone can be as cool and in the know (and now) as the writer.

They are awful singers and even worse dressers, if that’s even possible. The youngest one always looks so embarrased which it’s a good assumption that he is.

  • kaylaa !

Thank you, EW Writer. The skinny jeans, the scarves, THE BOOTS. I was shocked to hear they were straight.

what is your problem The Jonas Brothers are amazing they sing about their feelings which is great.Their style is amazing they know who they are and dress how they want and do what they want the best thing about your self is knowing who you are and not being afraid to express yourself. It is good that they wear promise rings it stops teenage pregancy which is a big deal world wide which also means any girl that marries them is going to be happy knowing that the Jonas Brothers are serious about them and that they love them.the Jonas Brothers including Frankie Jonas all look like their parents where do you think you get off judgeing them ? Nick Jonas never looks embarresed he is just shy quiet and sensitive he keeps himself to himself which is something you should do!Kevin Jonas sets an example to his younger brothers he is very mature their lucky to have him as a brother.I’m sorry but how do you have any reason to go judging them about there music, style have u/are u doing what they are ?

They look like barbie dolls, and the way they get ordered around I’m sure they’re anatomically identical.

  • m

It’s hilarious that anyone even cares about their ‘Fashion Sense’
They are just another in the endless plastic assembly line from Disney – just like Hilary and Miley. They sing and play about as good as any limited-talent garage band. Pile on expensive, slick production and a huge marketing machine from Disney, and voila! You create a star. But honestly, in 12-18 mos, they’ll fade away to be replaced by the next schlock product from the Disney puppy mill. So let ‘em wear the boots. In a year, nobody will remember them anyway.

  • doom

Ummmm…the whole tucking your pants into boots thing came from the military…I’d say that’s pretty manly.
However in these guys’ case…I agree. Stop it Jonas Brothers. Please.

  • Don

    Jonas this.
