Jennifer Hudson’s return to the spotlight came full circle with an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show this afternoon. After a month that featured show-stopping, much-talked about performances at the Super Bowl and Grammys (and a Grammy win for Best R&B Album to boot), Hudson dropped by to perform her new single "If This Isn’t Love" (check out her new video below).
The interview was all too brief, but two things struck me. (1) The last few weeks have meant the world to her. "I’m just glad to be back, be back to work doing what I love to do," she told Oprah. "It’s like therapy. I’m in a very good place." And (2) which also struck me during her performance of "You Pulled Me Through" at the Grammys, was how her music has had such a strong connection to her personal life, something she even admitted on the show. "The songs just happened to manifest themselves in my life," she admitted, thinking of her fiance David Otunga.
So, what’s next? Hudson will kick off a 20-city tour with Robin Thicke on March 31 (her first since the American Idol tour way back when), and it has been said that Tyler Perry is courting her for his next movie.
PopWatchers, are any of you planning on seeing Hudson in concert? And who else thought it was endearing that she named her three dogs Oscar, Grammy, and Dreamgirl?
Endearing? Maybe a little smug.
Yuck. And the hyper religiousness is a complete turn off.
hyper religious? her family (mother, brother and 8 year old nephew) was murdered back in October, I’m sure that’s what she meant when she spoke about praying every morning. sometimes I wonder if people have any clue how cruel they come across online.
I plan to get tix for the Chicago show. I liked the first video better than this last one.
Lots of people have tragedy in their lives (make that everybody), it doesn’t make them above reproach. Putting yourself in front of massive audiences and speaking about that tragedy in order to obtain monetary profit leaves you open to criticism. Stop wasting your time defending someone who wouldn’t give you a second thought.
Some many people fool themselves into a false security with religion.

R u kidding me? U critics are soooo heartless. The woman, is trying to pick up the pieces, trying to mend her broken heart and if goin on Oprah or any other show is helping her heal threw her music and threw talking about it, I say go head J Hud do your thing and in my prayers u will remain.
Each one of us has to find peace in their own way. Someone who is a public figure will seek out a different solutions for the sadness than someone who is not.

I think people need to realize that celebs or human just like us and they have the same problems that we do so show a little they more compassion because they are in the public eye.
PLEASE HELP ME. Did Jennifer Hudson sing the National Anthem Live or was it pre-recorded. The girl is special, but her and Oprah was talking like she did it live.
