Top Chef Season 5 is officially over, but you won’t have to wait long for your next Padma Lakshmi fix: People.com reports that the model/chef/author/host has already shot a new commercial for Hardee’s Bacon Western Thickburger. Hang on a sec. Doesn’t it seem a little weird that Lakshmi — a model-thin health nut who wrote a book of low-fat recipes — is hawking fast food, let alone something called a "thickburger"? And would Padma’s famously picky palate really be down with Hardee’s? Somehow we always imagined her diet to be more along the lines of…
Breakfast: Freshly picked mangoes covered in honey that she harvests with her bare hands from wild beehives.
Lunch: Locally grown dandelion salad, glass of room temperature rainwater.
Dinner: Pomegranate juice, steamed bamboo, one Pez tablet (a girl’s gotta treat herself!).

I’d like to hear her and the rest of the Top Chef judges comments about a Hardee’s burger. I agree it’s a weird endorsement for her. That said, I LOVE those Western Bacon Thickburgers!!
She’s gorgeous with the best job in show business. She can officially do whatever the hell she wants. I’d watch her read the phone book or the bible or anything else negligable.
She’s written more than just a low-fat cookbook. She’s interested in food. She’s eats food. However, I doubt she eats Carl’s jr UNLESS she is paid money to do it. We’ve all got mortgages to pay.
Did Bravo suddenly release all of their personalities from some kind of contractual restriction? Because Tom Colichio, Heidi Klum, and now Padma are all out shilling for some really out-of-character products. Love Tom, but in the Diet Coke commercial, he’s not that good, and undermining his credibility.
I am not a big fan. She is more of a food snob to me. I love the show but I think all of the judges are sell outs and are just doing it for the paycheck. Next season – New Judges!
If you read Padma’s cookbook, which is fantastic, she talks about her lover for bacon cheeseburgers and how her mother could smell them on her when she was young. In her former husband’s book he always wrote about his wife’s cooking and her chutneys, now that I have tried them I have to admit, she knows her food and really knows how to enjoy the fatttening stuff as well as the healthy stuff.
YES! She’s a total foody. She’ll eat anything.

I’m sure that Bacon cheeseburger is a lot better than some of those quick fire creations she has had to endure- quick! make something out of eel and graham crackers! She has eaten everything they have made on Top Chef- she certainly has a love of food and the metabolism for it. I totally buy that she would endorse a carl’s junior burger over, say, paris hilton.

Yes, she does eat Carl’s Jr. In her new book, she mentions going out after school with friends to Carl’s Jr. for their bacon western cheeseburger. I’m assuming Hardee’s burger is the same since they are the same company. Padma’s beautiful!
